I don't believe the developers intended for players to immediately drop what they harvest onto the ground (crops or seeds) like your harvesting bot does. :!: :ugeek:

If you simply Shift+right click the crops and drag the harvester, it will stack the seeds in your inventory. I again, don't see the point here for a user-created issue when the base game already does this, so how they got like that and their quantities does indeed matter. It's a waste of time for the devs to spend time on things that aren't even a problem, especially when the user is at fault (i.e inability to properly use bots/ scripts).

Let's say I have 16 slots in my bag. I collect 15 seeds per tile I harvest. You can pick up 16x50=800 seeds, which is 800/15=53 tiles of crops. Now you, with the default client, are at the same position. Now you pick up said stacks of seeds off the ground, and are forced to manually stack them all. I don't know about you, but even on my sprucecap hermit farm with no livestock to feed (other than chickens and rabbits), I grow more wheat and barley than that.

I get arguing against an idea if it really is "user responsibility," as in bad script, bad client mod, or whatever, but simply reiterating the same wrong point is ... I don't know what else to say other than "dumb."

How I mine depends on what I'm doing, but this is one of a few things I do do. I never mass collect dust unless I really don't care what's there because the standard "picking" algorithm seems random (neither FIFO nor FILO).

As long as the character has only one way to go (single tile wide excavation, starting at one end) it's deterministic enough.
For bigger areas it seems to have something to do with map tiles.

Anyway, I still think it should be put into the menu of the item (instead of being automatic when using the built in taker).

1.) Sure, you're limited by inventory space when it comes to harvesting. But this does not make you drop 15 seeds every time you harvest crops. This is a custom client feature.

2.) Even the default client, once you reach your inventory cap with seeds you will stop harvesting said crop. This means you can go to your barrel and place them in it without needing to manually stack them. Again, this makes this entire thread a custom client-based problem, and not a problem for the developers.
3.) Why don't you go ahead and tell me how your 1000 tiles of crop seeds, stacked in 15, are getting placed onto the ground in the first place in the default client?

The only thing that can really be counted as "dumb" here is your blatant lack of game mechanics. Get off your high horse you're so proud of and go learn to play the game, sprucecap.

It's been a while since I last farmed on the standard client. I didn't recall stopping the "harvest" action when you filled inventory, same way you don't stop mining, chipping stone, cutting logs, whatever. If my memory is that shoddy these days, I apologies. :D

Just let me stack seeds when using the shift + right click option please

It is funny how humans often remember wrong. It happens to me way more than it should.
You stop harvesting when the seeds won't go into your inventory, even if you are just harvesting a single plant.

As usual, loleznub is correct

What if he adds this, but makes dropped seeds decay after 30 seconds?

I don't see a reason why these can't stack into 50 and then overflow into the next invent slot

they refuse to stack on each other because each stack of 13 seeds has an unique quality with about 0,000000000000000001 different value than the other ones ¦]

Granger wrote:These have a flower menu anyway, just add a 'stack'. Bonus points for it having a requester where you can set the size of the stack (default: maximum stack size for that item) and a check box that lets you agree to not care about quality (default: false).

Would be more flexible.

it's still worse than seeds being auto-stacked by the game, because you have to click more!

but yeah this is weird I have not experienced that myself so far!
