Should C&I be archived

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

In all honesty, C&I *could* stay and flourish, but people would need to rethink how it functions.

I'm all for just simply removing it for a simple reason: H&H is not my game. It is not your game. It is not shubla's game. It is J&Lo's vision.
When people come here to bitch about not having enough birds and dumb gameplay loop breaking wounds in the game, that influences game development in an unhealthy way in my opinion.

The simplest way to fix this mess is to just simply remove C&I.
The other would be to heavily moderate it so that only quality threads are preserved, and everything else is purged. A "Quality" thread can be something based on some simple guidelines. If you want to make a suggestion, simply fill out this questionnaire:

1. What is the problem in your opinion?
2. How would you fix it?
3. How would your idea make the game better?

  • C&I is only useful if devs check it for suggestions
  • Devs haven’t checked it in months
  • Therefore, C&I isn’t useful

In the end its about whether devs find it useful in their brainstorming.
I'd guess yes, its good to have some external thoughts come into your head sometimes.

devs shouldn't be checking this subforums at all, too much misleading noise in here, i hope they just keep it here just so that the people feel like they can affect anything

I stand corrected, c&i is useful (as a no-no-rword containment chamber)

As a general rule for game development, the most valuable thing in game design is player feedback. Developers cannot look at their own creations from the viewpoint of a player. They grow used to things that do not feel intuitive to players, engage with content in the way it's designed rather than the myriad creative ways players actually abuse it, understand and know things players do not, and in general cannot have a true representative player experience. For Haven in particular, the devs also seem to not play beyond a certain level of progression, and I don't think they ever join groups of players in a village or faction.

Players will experience and report perceived problems that do not occur to the devs. To make a fun game, some middle ground must be made between the idealistic original vision and what players actually find fun.

kind of depends on if the devs actually want to make something they want their players to enjoy, as much as they want to create a specific idea and see how it plays out

i have a hard time believing HnH is all too much of the former nowadays, tbh.

Perhaps locking all C&I threads at the start of every new world would help some. It would help ensure ideas aren't necro'd in their original threads and could still be referenced with links if there is anything worth adding to it. C&I has value, but only when its used as C&I, and not saying i agree or disagree to 4-5-6 year old threads.

tbh, this is the first time I've seen necroing as a problem. Lack of moderation + dead forums are the causes imo.
