Personally, I think Credos are way down the list when it comes to why people don't join the competitive side.
For newer players, lack of information is a HUGE deal. The Wiki, being the only real source of info, is wildly outdate or lacking informations. And for everyone else, not having players they can count on and/or not having bots is the issue. Most villages lose half their players after a couple of months, if not sooner; the game soon becomes a grinding game, where your objectives goes from finding a way to get a new material, to grinding to gain a few points in quality. And even those who don't mind the grinding know they can't get competitive unless they use bots (which some people are against to, and some others have no clue how to use).
So I doubt Credos are what is stopping most people from going competitive.

Why? What's the difference between having to complete a credo and having to raise your attributes to a certain level?
The only difference I see is that bots are way less useful for credos, meaning you can't afk your way to Cave Hermit, while you can get to high stats by doing nothing but botting.

Industry boosts like those attached to strider, blacksmith, farmer, miner, and herder are just required if you want to not get left in the dirt a couple months down the line. And the sooner you rush them, the bigger the impact you get.

We have complete opposite views. To me (and I think to devs, given how credos currently work) Credos are something you need to get in order to unlock the full potential of that field.
Sure anyone can craft a sword, but if you want to become a master blacksmith you should put the work into it.

That being said, I think Credos should be reworked only because they depend on other credos that have nothing to do with it.
For example it makes no sense forcing a Cook to raise marksmanship, and so on. But that's another story.

+20 farming
quality bonus when collecting honey
gain more larvae when harvesting
faster wax production

possible quests:
deliver honey/wax to questgiver
build x beehives
harvest x liters of honey
get stung x amount of times make this most common quest
craft an artifact for farming/cooking
study odd honeycomb/bee that stung (x2)

Now this credo seems worthy of this game
