A couple, I guess. I've always kind of envisioned the ideal Haven world to be indefinite (I've had plans to auto-run the mapgen whenever someone closes in on a map border), so if nothing else it would've been just to try and see how a really large world worked in practice. For another thing we wanted to try and mix things up a bit by making it harder to find your friends and established groups, so part of the reason was just to prevent people meeting up in a corner of the map (the map was also non-rectangular and had lots of corners).

Do you have fully generated w8 map picture available still?
Best we have is this https://odditown.com/haven/map/world8/# ... .16&zoom=3

Yeah, was pretty unfun to, after travelling for 2 RL days to a map corner, find out that while we are all in a corner, we're not together.

Anyway, what you say reminds me of the book "Long Earth". I think you might like it ^^

Would love to see this, along with some released statistics about some previous worlds. Anything nostalgic like, were there any statue's that weren't discovered in w10-12...? Doesn't have to be much, and only previous world stuff, but it would soo add to the richness for us nostalgia nuts...
Just my .O2... Taste, drink.., like/hate...

I thought the ultra huge world 10 was neat at first, until my lawspeaker decided to move 6 hours away from the starting spot to found a village that was too remote to ever be threatened.

We were very successful because we had exclusive access to all the resources there. It was also boring as fuck.

This is a multiplayer game. Count my vote for smaller worlds over bigger ones. Danger, trade, and politics are the only thing keeping this game from descending into a mindless grind.

IMO, the player count has been surprisingly steady this far out from when the world started, which is part of the reason why I think the world feels so packed. It was difficult to find somewhere worth settling that was far enough away from others.

The idea that there are uninhabited continents waiting for those who can make a Snekkja is exciting, hopefully the unknown area will be worth the wait.

You already can head to uninhabited continents via whirlpools. Unless it shifted since the last time I used it, the Kinmark whirlpool (first hop) leads to one of the uninhabited continents.

I've heard from someone living on the other side of the Kinmark whirlpool that they've been living there for a while but haven't seen a single Hearthfire or other trace of hearthling activity. There are genuine uninhabited continents. (However, they're not very different from the inhabited continents other than being uninhabited.)

I too dream of a better world. My advise is to be change you wish to see.
