What's exactly the issue with something like potters/gardener/lumberjack/quarryman being "mandatory"? Those all seem like actual specializations where 1 or 2 people are able to cover the duties of those job for an entire group. The main issue I've seen with credos is the godawful way to obtain them.

Specializations seem like something the credo system should try to strive for, to let groups of people have defined roles, or allow hermits/small groups to have a niche they can try to fill.

For me, the issue with some being "mandatory" is it's another mechanic that just hurts hermits/small groups and rewards alting and/or bigger villages that can afford to specialize. Admittedly, most of that is because obtaining them is just straight up awful. It certainly doesn't help that some of two worst offenders for stupid quests, fishing and foraging, are the first ones most people will do.

I can see this, but I think that the solution for this isn't so much to get rid of specializations, but to encourage and give more tools that allow people to do stuff like trade and make markets.

Hermits/small groups could specialize in a couple things like making chiming bluebells and diving for pearls which they could then use to sell to others for better stuff they can't directly acquire.

Like I think thingwalls for example are actually a super great change in that direction that allows for more hermits/small groups to be able to trade with others.

Is it just me or is this thread just a thinly veiled attempt to further negate hunger and satiation, masked as a credo? At any rate i really don't want to see another Credo which is mandatory to even play the game.

I don't think it's worth it, but just make it some weird highscore mechanic where each unique set of ingredients consumed adds a +1 to the score. Let some bored larpers wave their gastrowillies around.

Donezo, non-mandatory credo that at least 3 people will get. Good content!

I don't even really see the need. The Gastrolarpers already have Cook, and any other Credo is gonna be offbrand Cook or stupidly broken to the point it becomes mandatory.

What we really could use is something more for the Magic Larpers, because Mystic is our only one and its another one that is basically mandatory so not really for the Magic Larpers.
