This world we have a cum jar with like 5 stockpiles of skulls mostly I made that I'm regularly sharing screenshots of. Everybody who even semi-actively plays and is involved in the community enough to be active on the forum knows how I spend my haven time. Of all of the people who act aggressively in game I think I hide it the least by a wide margin, in fact I'm constantly advertising it. That doesn't take away from any of the arguments I made around using thingwalls while red handed at all. Also, the standard for multiple years has been that people could teleport while red handed, and nobody rly had an issue with it. My guess is the people who disagreed with me in that thread will agree with me within 6-12 months just like basically every other time I've called out rly bad mechanics early and been disagreed with.

TBH, I really don't appreciate you suggesting any of my critiques have been self serving, because I've fucked myself over time and again by explaining what I'm exploiting and how to fix it.

if they're gonna b bad either way I'd rather the bad version that involves me being able to travel...

it was pretty bad
for the LI'L HERMIT BOIS keep in mind if ur getting aggroed the person who aggroed u is getting red handed anyway because u'll get KOed b4 u run 1 minimap realistically
SnuggleSnail wrote:no, I meant that as a commentary on the avg game knowledge a normal hafen player that is concerned with somebody aggroing them vs. the ppl that are proly going to be aggroing them
I consider myself to be kinda bad, but if you take the < 100 people who actually PVP out of the equation for any given world I'm basically an untouchable god. The same as true for basically anybody who practices for like 3 hours one time and maybe PVPs a bit in other games
lots of ppl r trying to make suggestions regarding balance around the assumption it isn't sweaty 16-24 year old nerds who play 16 hours a day vs. 2 speeding facebook moms that r just happy their stonestead matches their pavement reasonably well
I think the < 100 ppl who actually PVP would FRICKEN HATE to be redhanded for 55min every time they aggro somebody, and the facebook moms ur trying to protect are going to get fukt no matter what the mechanics are
SnuggleSnail wrote:boat through a vortex then pick a route that takes 1 hour to get back vs. boat in a random direction for 1 hour and port back with a thingwall
the same number of facebook moms die either way - it only makes normal play that isn't entirely peasfool more annoying
SnuggleSnail wrote:maybe if some1 attacks me and I dunk his ass and decide to take his troll belt I shouldn't need to stand next to a thingwall for 55minutes
I mean there's a billion other reasons there isn't rly a casual PVP scene at all, but there's no wonder there isn't when you consider 1 red hand timer might be a half or somebody's whole daily playtime and it's just them afking next to a thingwall wanting to go to bed because they won a fight
I can't count the number of times I've made somebody babysit my redhanded character for an hour, or just set up a script to hearth me if I get KOed or if redhanded runs out because I wanted to sleep
SnuggleSnail wrote:with the way thingwalls work I doubt I will ever be nearby my base when I choose to be outside for whatever reason

SnuggleSnail wrote:I stopped reading when you said throw away characters. Nobody does that for combat. Nobody. Vandal alts are sometimes used for rly annoying shit, but in those instances it's honestly probably ONLY ME doing that and VERY RARELY. Vandal alts probably live in a safepali nearby the annoying shit they're doing, or get packed into a looting knarr and driven across the world if stealing SHP is the issue. No teleporting involved ever
If you're even vaguely competent you're x100000 more likely to die to a boar when you DC than the top 20 PVPer chasing you. Something RETARDED needs to happen for you to die, so nobody is afraid of that. If you want to not be risking anything when you go out, just don't take good gear
Kaios wrote:I do that, so it's at least not nobody. I truly have no idea what you could be doing when you go exploring that you are going to end up getting red-handed so often. Do players even get attacked on land that often? Most of the time it seems like the fights start on the water, I've hardly run in to anyone even at peak times when walking around on land doing foraging or questing via thingwalls.

He's just out foraging on the other side of the world, why can't he just insta-travel back to his pali after that? smh
SnuggleSnail wrote:haha u guys sound like u regularly get foraged
Key quotes:
"thingwalls r gonna b bad when ur getting chased by 10 retards porting from every direction with horses over and over again xd" [arguing he'll be attacked by people and they will have an advantage due to this]
"it only makes normal play that isn't entirely peasfool more annoying" [Snail implying he's not just wanting to abuse Thingwalls for easy ganking]
"maybe if some1 attacks me and I dunk his ass" [Snail arguing again this is a problem for him because he gets attacked (implying it's not because because he's the one attacking)]
"spend 10 weariness to be on the other side of the world to do the thing > some thing happens > o fuck guess I get to wait here an hour" [again implying it's something happening to him and not him choosing to gank people that causes his problem]
"haha u guys sound like u regularly get foraged" [Snail unable to defend his traveling across the world to gank people, so he counters with 'u mad']
(At that point the jig was up and Snail made no further posts in that thread.)
At no point did you argue that you should just be able to gank people without getting locked out of teleporting, which was the practical use case you wanted that change for. Instead you kept arguing for all kinds of theoretical situations that would theoretically also affect players not doing the things the teleport block is intended for, in hopes of getting the teleport block lifted for the things you are actually doing and which you should be teleport-blocked for. It's very dishonest and you were definitely arguing in bad faith, trying to undermine a mechanic for accomplishing the things it intends to accomplish (to your disadvantage).
SnuggleSnail wrote:The Rose Gold update was trash for quality farming because the new best methods for quality farming are either to have a giant base(>40x40) that covers several quality regions and plant on all of them to maximize your chances to get a +5 in one of those regions. The more common strategy to overcome the uniform quality growth is to plant on an interval of an hour or less, so every single hour you plant your turnips/flax you're more likely to get a +5. This is drastically less realistic for a human to do well than the previous method of login every 16 hours to harvest/replant a 5x5 or 6x6 or 7x7 flax field than logout for another 16 hours.
That wasn't the Rose Gold update ('Post Rose'), this mechanic was in Hafen since the very start (either that or it was in a very early update - it's been on the wiki since March 2016), and it wasn't to combat bots but as a convenience feature to remove the tedium of having to separate the good seeds from the bad seeds between harvesting and replanting. (With the auto-sort features present in at least the custom clients (not sure if default has it) this wouldn't actually be a significant issue anymore nowadays.) 'Post Rose' was the update actually intended to get genuine players on the same level as bots again, and it worked very well.
