Alchemy system is like any other system in HnH, way too tedious and eventually people just bot it.
Hard part is maybe gathering materials, but after that you can use bots to go through inhumane amount of combinations and make automatic spreadsheets with all the good stuff.
After that part, its just using the same recipes for rest of world and making selfishly sure not to leak them so others must see the same effort.

Alchemy system would be so much better if you only saw effects of potion after gulping it ¦]
Of course, the penalties should be reduced so that you wouldn't instantly die with ridiculous effects, like you now do.
Or then "sip" option to potion which only causes the effects a small bit, so you can test what it does..

Holy fuck I got a Shubla post on my thread and it's just as good as I could have expected. Truly a national treasure. My endearment of you is the same as my endearment for Nic Cage, 100% ironic but somewhere it's still admiration. It's like watching Alex Jones and knowing all the shit he says is bullshit yet, somehow, you just can't look away. It's too funny. Keep on living my guy. (Shit idea tho lmao).

Also can we not bring botting into this? The botting of potions is of no concern to me. It's either they bot potions or Ancient Root Trees or really good beds I honestly don't care. I have my fun with the system and it's entirely a moot point of coming in here to try and tell me it's not fun and it's too tedious. I guess you assume the rest of the class wishes to hear your take though. :D

Let me attest, it is extremely disappointing spending weeks worth of work to come up with these:

Only to learn that on use, they become irrepairable nerve damage, or some other random wound that I may or may not have a cure for...rendering my "perfect" potion useless both to me, and those I was wishing to cure. Having hidden wound conversion is not a fun or intuitive mechanic. The potions should do what they say they will do, it's not worth it otherwise. I spent excessive amounts of time "perfecting" these potions, getting them to this point, learning what ingredients have -exactly- and in which order, only for a curveball to come in the form of a hidden mechanic I have no control over...

On another aspect of Alchemy, the duration is not useful for the stat gains on 90% of these potions. It says "7 min 30 s" on a standard potion, but that is in-game time. They last about 2 real minutes. I was hoping getting into this that i'd be able to make a potion to boost my gemcutters softcap. I did. He just has to swill hundreds of them. Not worth it.

My relationship with the difficulties and punishments of Alchemy is a very masochistic one. As is most people's relationship with Haven in general.

New Argument: Nerve Damage can only be cured by either an Ancient Root or Alchemy, so why make it take forever to cure through Alchemy? You still needed the knowledge to cure the nerve damage in the first place right? I feel like this almost encourages the same process, just without the need to test on alts because you don't want to absolutely melt one of your village members. Yet without the knowledge to cure it, the wound itself becomes a very real threat!

PS: Neon those are some cool-looking potions regardless of their effectiveness. It shows you know a lot about what you're doing! Keep up the good work and I love the qualities of those things! You should try to get into double stat buffing potions and finding cures for their side effects. Then it doesn't matter how long the potion lasts if you can just cure the guy after! :D

The latest update lists the side effects on the elixir so now they'll know what they're getting into before drinking it.

yeah it's pretty cool. i mean, it still bothers me that i spent hard work into finding this potion, but at least i can rearrange the ingredients and order to produce a different wound (which is lame). and at least i didn't find out the hard way.

You changed the world Javlock. Now it's time to rest once more.

Nerve damage for drinking potions is dumb, stupid, unrealistic and extremely unpleasant. Your stomach should be able to cleanse almost all nerve system damage potential of elements (aluminium, for instance, does that and is extremely slow to filter out from your blood system; it takes months, if not years for your system to expel a diminute amount from your blood, but if you drink the same amount in a cup of glass with water, your gut flushes out like 99% of it)

I'd say nerve damage can stay, but severely downgraded to like 10% of its current values, so its a residual permanent damage that stays and requires you to elixir it out.
