What is actual problem that requires pepper removal?

.......... listen to to what you just typed out. 20-30 Trellises for a Hermit nets 0.05 ground pepper per production cycle... that's like only a couple of pieces of food. You have to be a member of one of the botting factions, because everyone in the entire world knows that you need 200+ Trellises in order to make a meaningful amount of pepper for even a couple characters in order to stat boost to the end.

Due to how much clicking and the sheer scope of the work involved, it is a system that necessitates botting, and only benefits those who stoop so low. It needs to be reworked, either so it gives off enough pepper from a small amount of trellises, to accommodate without the need for gridding, OR we need to lower the amount of benefit pepper gives, because the real reason its botted so much is because its so rewarding, but takes so much less work... Make it less rewarding and it will no longer be worth it to build and maintain 200+ Trellises.

There is no ingame rule, that forces you to pepper all food, or use pepper in any recipe.
Curious why didn't you demanded a cheese rework, to make it 4x cheaper, 2x faster and has 1.5 more fep, just because you have village of 30 members with people who wants top stats, but don't want to do anything for it?

As a small village of 3 people we are usually building 180 trellises, pretty much enough for us to craft all food that we want with pepper, and sell some surpluses.

probably because he's not a mouthbreather and understands cheese is fine and the effort:production ratio is pretty good, unlike with pepper which has such an absurd amount of effort needed to use it reliably that the only people who use it consistently bot it

one trellis creates .01kg of pepper in what, 1.5 irl weeks? which is enough to get extra feps on a single meal. one sucklings maw (roughly once a week from a single female giving birth constantly) is enough for 1 liter of rennet, which is enough for 50 curds, which is 12 cheese trays, which can yield you anywhere from 12-60 slices of cheese.

Trellises are so bad I just dont grow any trellis crop lmao.

In my eyes, the fix is easy: make pepper a spice to be used in recipes and give variable FEPs, not some flat FEP bonus applied after cooking. That being said, quantity of pepper per plant is also insanely bad.

Are you implying you're also not drinking beer and wine? Because you really should, they give equivalent or even better FEP bonuses than pepper nowadays (following values are at low quality):

Any amount of grind that can't reasonably be done by a single player is going to promote botting. So, the simplest fix would be to just increase the amount of pepper gained so anyone, not just mass pepper bots, can have enough pepper for everything. If Loftorb want pepper to only be used on occasion, they could instead make bum burn a limiting factor or change how pepper works. Maybe make pepper increase how much satiations a food gives as well so it becomes situational.

FYI drinks are not giving any FEP bonus, just prevent satiatons gain from consumed food. Wiki had wrong info about it.

Huh? I thought it had changed from reducing satiations to giving FEP bonuses. Why the hell does the tooltip say '+54%' if it's about reducing satiations, and say 'food never tasted better' when it does not affect the impact of food? Have I been going through the whole process of preparing appropriate drinks and drinking before every meal for nothing?

unless you're eating a fuckload, or on very frequent intervals to make the satiation reduction matter, ye you're completely wasting your time.
In fact, using drinks at all is probably bad for average players who care about hunger
