I can't speak for their usage in realm mechanics, but for travel and contact between players Thingwalls have been a fantastic addition, the single best addition in a very long time.

Yeah, I'm sure a 3.6x LP multiplier wouldn't be absurdly broken as a realm buff. Unless I'm being wooshed here.

If remove buffs and leave realms just for public chat, wouldn’t it be better to remove realms from the game, name the continents and simply make continental chats? Just equip into chat personal blocking button (with options to block: forever, for an hour, for a day, for a week and managing the black list over your account properties) to avoid spam/flood without need in moderation. I don’t want to formally be in some Noname’s good for nothing lands but without buffs I will never lay a finger into efforts of building realms, just no point.

I'm being flippant but I do think old school civ-style sliders representing realm priorities (industry vs. agriculture war vs. peace etc) with similar impacts to personal beliefs would be better than what we have now. (Not that the old civ sliders represented opposing viewpoints like personal beliefs did, just kind of a UI example.)

Imo great idea, could be applied very well

You don't want to spread the glory of Image Player Population Image ?

I certainly don't. Spiraling yes, but I don't think anything involving realms ever inhibited people from ganking weaker players.

We (broadly speaking) agree with this analysis and have already made similar notes.

It's not at all unrealistic because there isn't even a sliver of a chance that they can compete against a faction for monoliths/irminsuls. Also big factions could just lock them in and make their realm worthless.

fairystyle wrote:And this is how we come to another bad side of realms: good buffs are the main and only fair reason to create a realm. When the genuine target would better be to unite local players, create competitive mood between different groups. So if you remove or nerf buffs there will be no profits left to pursue. Fighting for the “name” and LARP is cringe and no one will bother because its rather humiliating to show that you care to tag lands with your stupid name, which doesn’t even represent your capability or power, only that you either bot or able to afford buying steel.

Well obtaining the buffs are pretty low effort for factions to begin with, I imagine people will still make them and acquire some buffs. We obviously would see LESS pvp over realms but we never really saw any to begin with so who cares?

I know we've had some minor changes to this, but North Star realm last world literally had this happen to them

+1
It was good thing that loftar removed bonus to quality from strider credo etc. Now just tweak the realms or remove them.
