The way FEP's work is not as a soft cap. They get harder to get progressively and their progression matches symbel and things that you can do to counteract the fact you need more FEPS.
A Soft Cap sets a limit and makes things get *exponentially* harder after you get above that limit. I.E after you get to 500 stats you then need to have double the FEPs to get to 501 then x4 to get to 502, then x8 to get to 504.. now i don't necessarily think the exponent should be that steep but what we have now is a progression mechanic not a soft cap.
