In reality there is a astronomical impact on the result. You will think you are clicking to run away in a straight line, but due to the elevation, your next click will be very off center causing me to catch up, and the next, and the next until I'm on you. Even when you are swinging your camera to see where you are going, those are precious seconds that I don't have to spend, and that can and will seal your fate.
The default client or clients without this mod are basically causing you to hallucinate, and do wrong things even when you think its not affecting you. How are you going to make a sharp turn behind a medium-large cliff, when you have to rotate your camera 180 degrees both ways to make that happen in a split second? Its not even really humanly possible, let alone expecting a random to accomplish that feat.

Default client custom sound notification system? I've never heard of it.

Take a look yourself.

Elevation is not only there to get in the way of what you can see, going down or up steep slopes will adjust the player's speed to be faster or slower depending on how steep it is.
