i actually don't understand why the default client is so bad. there are features universally present in all clients that are necessary to play the game which don't exist in default. i would like to hear some commentary from jorb on this.

Yeah sure, try going into a fight irl while high on hallucinogenic mushrooms. In theory the mushrooms are just affecting your perception, and you are still just as strong and fast, nothing has changed so therefore your chances of winning should remain unchanged right? Yeah...

In reality there is a astronomical impact on the result. You will think you are clicking to run away in a straight line, but due to the elevation, your next click will be very off center causing me to catch up, and the next, and the next until I'm on you. Even when you are swinging your camera to see where you are going, those are precious seconds that I don't have to spend, and that can and will seal your fate.

The default client or clients without this mod are basically causing you to hallucinate, and do wrong things even when you think its not affecting you. How are you going to make a sharp turn behind a medium-large cliff, when you have to rotate your camera 180 degrees both ways to make that happen in a split second? Its not even really humanly possible, let alone expecting a random to accomplish that feat.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

i was talking a bout ellevation here not you tripping balls,

but your example is flawed there, the "mountains are hard to traverse" feature is the base line, thats intended gameplay, even if it sucks ass,
people arent high and you are sobre, you just come running at them with the red gridmatp of the terminator in your eyes, they basically get run down by an cyborg,as you are doing an tas speedrun for there loot.

Elevation is not only there to get in the way of what you can see, going down or up steep slopes will adjust the player's speed to be faster or slower depending on how steep it is.

Its only visual, you not actually going faster or slower in terms of ingame coordinates are you?

I'm not sure at what point you start to lose or gain speed, or rather how steep the slope needs to be before that occurs, but it is most certainly not superficial and I would suggest trying that out for yourself too.

This has no actual effect on gameplay, though, because the chaser is affected by the up/down time too and, unless the chasee will get KO'd during the animation, it's in the chaser's best interest to immediately enter the up/down animation as well to keep up with his target.
