Intended reasons, I believe, are: to remove a fighter from the fight, to temporarily incapacitate a player so you could perform an action.

But "the favorite one" is definitely to be an asshole and to inflict a lot of traumas impeding KO'd player progress severely. In this regard, a KO is a failed attempt at murder, and it's gonna be hell to argue against that.

So, removing the "...and destroyed all your stuff!" part from KO will not in any meaningful way affect it's intended productive reasons, on the other hand balancing out the "ganking for fun" mechanic (traumas are enough).

The only valid argument in this case will be the one where "being an asshole and inflicting misery on other players for fun" is not only an intended, but a rather encouraged behavior. And that would be quite reprehensible on the dev's part.

I'm in favor. I'm even willing to still letting the ganker scum have what you have in your inventory but nothing equipped, not on char not on toolbelt. They can have my clover and blueberries.

I like this idea, although in a modified version.

-> You can only steal from a KO'ed character who has bought the rage skill . In that way players are still able to get their pvp-loot, but there is no prize to be had for just being an asshat to peaceful hunters and gatherers.

This is a good compromise, I'm in favor of this.

Limiting accessible containers (only inventory and curios, for example) is an idea worth looking into as well.

That would defeat most intended purposes of PvP in this game, the concept quite eloquently described in Loftar's post of 10 years ago: you have to have the opportunity to inflict PvP on people griefing you with non-PvP actions. And that's what KO mechanic is doing fairly well.

However, the KO and traumas mechanic is punishing enough without the material loss. And, conversely, if you're inexperienced or stupid enough to get yourself proper killed - you get looted/undressed as well, so more power to really skilled and invested gankers.

So the point is to move the material loss out of the "got randomly ganked by a 1-day old character" and into the "got raided by a well organised party and lost my stuff" domain.

Why do you feel the need for PvP loss to be as punishing as possible? Please, explain the reasoning here.
