Would most likely not help; perps would simply travel around with items they've "stolen" from an alt and put those on people they KO.

add a "Reeks of Theft" tag to any item that lets you subtly know that it can be tracked, and then people can decide themselves whether or not to keep it. Best inbetween probably.

Also maybe let people drop items while KO'd.

I've said this the last time this type of thread popped up.
Items are easily tracked~ those items need to have reek of theft. It helps with trade shenanigans or knockout hunting shenanigans.

honestly placing items into people inventories while they're ko'd doesn't even seem like a necessary mechanic to begin with

It takes longer to wake up at your hearth fire than it does to right click a scent.

If they are close enough to track that scent and find you before you get up, they probably already know where you live.

Oh well, most people who are using items to track you aren't blindly following the indicator in a straight line. You only need to track twice and draw a triangle or have a client that does it for you.
