The same could be said for others, but having me as a neighbor likely wasn’t appealing to some players, especially those who are territorial or resource-conscious (since more players in the area mean fewer resources). As a result, it’s not uncommon for players to actively eliminate others they encounter to secure their own territory. In fact, this behavior has become something of a standard practice in the game.
When I played solo, I once challenged myself to see how much LP I could gather without being discovered by other players. I lived on a remote island where I built a minehole and settled there. In that kind of isolated life, my industrial capabilities were quite weak, so I would have stood no chance in a fight. However, it was an incredibly thrilling survival experience.
Think of other players as highly intelligent NPCs. Just like NPCs, some are violent barbarians, while others are harmless settlers
