Also prevent damage fleeing in order to make hunting not feel cheesy by re-aggro trick or painful by forcing players to track them.

I agree with you. To add to that, The current bleeding damage is too low.
I think it would be great if shooting animals with arrows caused bleeding and slowed them down. Moreover, as mentioned in another post, introducing traps for hunting would allow all players to access meat.

If these changes make the game more challenging, the amount of meat and bones obtained from a single animal could be increased to balance it out. Of course, implementing all of this would require a significant overhaul, so many veteran players might feel, "If you have time for that, focus on enhancing other content instead."

I do think that Animals should offer way more meat and should be harder to kill. Especially i agree with the bleed change because not only is hunting being about chasing accurate to ancient hunting, but it is also reminiscent of how pvp works in this game so will help acclimate new players to long cases.

I posted something similar earlier in this thread but when Animals run they should be locked in that state so that if you re-aggro they will always be running. Up bleed damage to like 10-15 per tick, so they die relatively soon after and let you pick up their blood tracks and track them like a scent so tracking isn't cancer. This way ranged hunting doesn't rely on cheese and is about if you do enough damage to make them run or not with fuck ups leading to fights which is also reminiscent of irl.

Drastically increase i the amount of bones and meat they give and increase hide size. A 1×1 in the current system would be increase to 2×2 and a 2×2 to a 3×3 with Hunter Credo offering a chance at 2 hides when butchering.

Increase the size of drying racks to compensate. The overall point is killing one animal should be a much greater reward with a much greater sense of accomplishment and hunting shouldn't feel like a animal farm to mass-produce meat. It should feel more dynamic.

The reason I hate just lowering their stats to face tank them is that'd make them even less dynamic and even more mass-producey.

How do you suggest we do that?

I dunno I'm a new since steam release maybe in 3 months when I understand the game I could have a legit answer specific to this game. I haven't killed things like Orcas, Cachalot, Mammoths, Trolls and probably many more. I dunno what cheese strats are for them so I just can't say anything about them. But I will say if it wasn't literally just stupid to actually fight a bear straight up I would do it.

I really dunno how you would make hunting more intuitive in a stat checky game like this except just let us right click inspect or something and have it actually be useful info.
