Get a new crop of sprucecaps to hunt and kill.
Within 4-5 months the PvP crowd has killed or run off many players; those who remain are quietly playing their game in a remote area and/or are relatively safe within their palis. The PvP folks want new targets so scream "the world is dead, it's time to reset". When I logged in today there were 151 people online, so probably at least 2-3 times that many total playing; not bad for this game, and certainly not "dead".
This is why I support the concept of two worlds - one which resets roughly every six months to satisfy the PvP people, and one that runs a couple of years or more for the rpg players.
I think this should be the goal they should make the 2nd server reset even more regularly and focus it on PvP 2-3 month resets, make it more aggressive etc. and have a ever lasting "W16" that never resets. However I still think everyone will just jump ship to the new world anyway. maybe after the first week or two of failing to get setup people might switch to W16, not sure we shall see.
If this thread is telling me anything is that no one has any ambition to ever play long term and only care about playing the first month or so. I mean sure maybe those who do play all year also don't mind a reset but losing what they built kinda sucks. Surely there is a world where those who want to build grand things that persistent forever (like the game advertises). coming across a pyramid made 10 years ago, or a maze someone stopped maintaining 5 years ago and there is remains of this world wander. A market that got raided and left to nature. persistence can be fun and tell a story to me resetting worlds is always sad, everything currently being maintained disappears and everything that left its mark on the world is also gone..
I am sure you all have roamed ruins or watched them appear and disappear I want more of that, the world has a pretty good decaying system that reclaims the land but there is always marks left that always makes me take a second to figure out or think about what was once there.
Maybe I am the only one here who enjoy seeing this sort of stuff, and it would be kinda sick to actually be apart of the worlds history by building something that doesn't just die every year. This is what want I am trying save with a ever lasting world but why bother when it gets reset. Maybe everyone quits because the worlds reset? World 7 was/is kinda pog.
