Get a new crop of sprucecaps to hunt and kill.
Within 4-5 months the PvP crowd has killed or run off many players; those who remain are quietly playing their game in a remote area and/or are relatively safe within their palis. The PvP folks want new targets so scream "the world is dead, it's time to reset". When I logged in today there were 151 people online, so probably at least 2-3 times that many total playing; not bad for this game, and certainly not "dead".
This is why I support the concept of two worlds - one which resets roughly every six months to satisfy the PvP people, and one that runs a couple of years or more for the rpg players.

Every time new players enter a new world, they have a better chance of keeping up with experienced players over a longer period of time.
With each new world, playing through the same iteration, they will become more experienced.
