It's come up a million times and ultimately jorb doesn't want it as he's clearly stated. Lets just let it be imo.
Lucky: haven is so quirky
Lucky: can be so ugly, can be so heartwarming

he could name its something like "fancy testicles" or something to match up his liking but it would still act like potatoes

Cabbage - would be cool to have in the game, you harvest it like pumpkin (except it takes 2x2 space), shred it into pieces. Good to feed animals. Nice refreshing vegetable, providing good enough energy % , yet not so many FEP's.

Shredded cabbage pieces could be placed in barrels, applied with spices, maybe some ferment, or some carrots (slavic style), or apples.. and turned into sourkraut after some time (just like turning grape juice into wine). Easier to digest, more FEP's. However historically this preparation appeared in Europe quite late, so wouldn't fit so well in HnH setting. :(

Poppy pod extract. Opium was a blast during ancient Rome times. Less popular after all that empire collapse. Buuut.. Think about it. Poppy pods could be ground and used in cauldron and boiled enough to make extract. Dried up in herbalist table after, making it good enough to smoke. It could be great pain reliever, resulting in faster healing of wounds. (I noticed developers looks at wound system very seriously.)

Poppy pods could be dried up for making tea. That tea would be different, instead of providing pure energy.. giving some other buff. (Getting rid of travel weariness, or improving sleep, if these will be introduced).

Just some ideas.

Smoking opium should have the side effect that the names and groups in your kin list get garbled up, so while you're high your best friend could be seen as red 'motherf***er i want to kill', while that one might show up as green 'damsel from down the street'. That's what I call side effect.

Would at least reduce the usage of opium by groups using a bot with auto-combat ability ;)

I don't care if Jorb already said he doesn't like it I want to throw my penny in for potatoes. could open up so many cool new recipes.

We need more good cooking, and each new crop they add expands the possibilities exponentially, especially such a versatile thing as potato.
