No matter what you do, population drops every time.
Theres no flow of new players coming. This game is not advertised anywhere or anything like that.
Only source of new players is maybe google search and peopel telling their friends which is not enough.
And because J&L are so superior, they think that if game is good enough people will see dreams of it and start playing it or something.

A majority of the people who have stopped playing that I know who stopped playing, stopped out of boredom. I think your reason makes up for a small minority

Agreed, basically everyone I've played with loves the game but gets bored and loses interest when things plateau and become more of a daily chore with no pay off.
The same happens with me, I'm always back for each world it's just a question of how long my interest remains, this world has been the longest by far but I definitely feel it flagging and keep trying to find new ways to rekindle my interest.

Because Seatribe is a strong independent company and don't need no publisher!

Interestingly enough, I only found out about Seatribe through a beta promotion for Salem, through Paradox Interactive while playing Dreamlords (which is now shutdown). I investigated Seatribe, saw the trailer for HnH and fell in love.

I got my friends and some family involved because they thought carrying a bear was hilarious and saw lots of potential.

Everyone joined for a time... then they left.

The trouble isn't acquiring people, it's getting them to stay.

Nowadays, I'm very hesitant to share the games I'm into, because I know a lot of them just don't have the glue to keep the people I know interested.
Every update that goes by, I think the game is in a better position to "go public," but even at this stage, I don't feel it has the glue to retain a +50% of people checking it out. Without meeting that threshold, population will be inevitably on the decline.

Nothing beats the magic of this game for the first few months, if they could capture that sense of competition and adventure, it'd simply be amazing. Thats why I suggested the resets and scoreboards. People tend to compete more when there is a list involved

Yep. The game kind of starts to lose its glory around this time..
Reset every 3 months would be good.

That would be way too small time.

I don't think a timely reset is something to strive for- we should look for ways to improve the game in that a permanent world is something that can stay around and always be effective.

Resets encourage half-assing things, I know I'd bother a lot less with layouts and setups if I knew it was just a 3 month thing. Expansion and evolution are a far superior way forward. In an ideal world there would be systems in place that allow the world to never need to be reset.

Well, enjoy the decline in active player numbers in the coming months.
