Maybe it looks like it but it wasn't meant as one. An "idea" should be clear to any reader without him being well-versed in some other game, a particular subculture etc. If you'd explain what is that NPC's purpoce, made a few suggestion about implementation, this would be a completely proper idea. In the form that you've put it it is borderline at best. And since the discussion went on about girlfriends and masturbation, I found it necessary to mention that the thread has not much ideas anymore.

I apologize if you've taken my words as an insult, I'm not a native English speaker so sometimes it may look like I'm insulting you while I don't mean to do so. It's always better to clarify what is the case before being offended.

Curiously, this man is not only the world-record holder in masturbation, he also has a girlfriend.

Yes, if only this notorious shitposter loftar did not try to derail thread!

Please stop digging yourself into this hole. I am becoming embarrassed for you.

I do not know what hole you're talking about, I've stopped talking to you since you don't seem to have a constructive purpose in our dialog today. Furthermore, you seem to be under impression that I am trying to explain myself to you (or that I am obliged to do so even). These impressions are false. If you have nothing more to say on the topic, it is usually wiser to stop talking. We've made enough offtopic here before I realised your intentions most likely to be banter and flexing your fingers on the keyboard.

You will take your own advice before give this to others.

I did say "most likely", that's how it seemed to me, and I am prepared to be proven wrong. What's your thoughts about this "waifu NPC" idea? Should it be implemented, or not, and why?

I comment these thoughts early in thread:

I think this would be a great and immersive feature to keep players interested and playing the game. There are so many amazing ways this could be implemented and accomplished I believe the brilliant minds of jorb and Loftar are up to the task.

I think we already have features for this. You can read about it on wikipedia.

I think this feature is already approximated in right present by current mechanic. Given previous event I think this feature is adds a lot to the game. Depending on detail, I will support expansion of mechanic though.

Don't you think that substituting for real people with NPCs in a multiplayer game is first step for the game to become single-player? And don't you agree that encouraging interaction between players in any possible aspect of the game in it's current state is crucial for the game to evolve? I believe implementing a "waifu NPC" would push the game in exactly opposite direction.

Except with the genre of the game, the waifus can also permanently die as well.

Waifus would be similar to resources, but much more sought after. There would be a finite amount of waifus spawned at the beginning of the world in pre-generated villages. Players would have to siege them and claim the waifus inside. After the waifus have been claimed, people will begin to recognize which waifus are the purest and thus the most sought after. Whole alliances would be formed to siege and claim and recover sacred waifus. Waifus would also generate some form of score for their village holder, similar to relics in Age of Empires. And perhaps, the first to reach a certain goal of Waifu Purity would be the victors of the world and push Haven into the next. The Search for Waifus would be the ultmate driving force in Haven politics. Alliances would be ever changing entities as they form and shatter based on who claims the most Waifus.

Perhaps... waifus are the elusive End Game Content we seek? This would force player interaction! One could not simply squirrel their precious waifu away without drawing attention of the craving hordes. People would be forced to make friendships... and break them.

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

I do not think this game will become single player. To say we will need no NPC or game will be single player is disingenuous I think. I do think jorb and loftar do not want to add NPC to game though, which is fine to me, but I think arbitrary. It is slippery slope fallacy to restrict to no NPC because game will become full of NPC.
Hasta wrote:And don't you agree that encouraging interaction between players in any possible aspect of the game in it's current state is crucial for the game to evolve?

This I think is agreeable. Player interaction is literal the game.
Hasta wrote:I believe implementing a "waifu NPC" would push the game in exactly opposite direction.

To suggesting waifu is prevent player interaction because it is NPC I think does not follow logic. Bear is already NPC character in game. Does bear existing limit player interacting? If this waifu is added in way for not replace function of player, it can be added as thing to encourage interacting maybe.

I think like the thread I link before is good thing for game. Player has some precious item unique to him and he cares much for its return. This item can not be replace easy. I think maybe adding some things like this can be interesting. Player can not just made second copy. Siege is hard to do, so recover precious waifu is motivation for player to go all out battle.
