So yeah, are those effect caps just a mental exercise, or something you're actually considering doing? You did have them for a while, but you then removed it to prevent fresh alts from killing people when you could've just implemented minimum required investment to actually benefit from the system :(

Everything is just a mental exercise before it is implemented. ;)

I mean, it's not like we actually have a singular, well-defined vision for how we want stats and effects to be handled; rather we are trying to combine several apparently conflicting visions. It's on ongoing project, and I generally don't mind discussions that bring forth new ideas to consider.

well something needs to be done. like I have not really tried out archery since the changes... but I imagine that if you could eat up to 3000 perception you might be able to 1 hit people through their armor or something stupid... and if that's possible then someone will setup a massive operation to pump out perc cheese until they can do it...

I suggested this before but... loftar have you thought about limiting your stats based on your gear? you do it this somewhat with archery.

Example: you have a 150q sword... and say the limit is 3x or 4x your equipment... so if its 3x you would be able to use an effective 450 melee/str/agil. with Bows it would cap your perception at like 3x as well... in unarmed attacks your stats will be capped to 1x your attribute. so 500 mod unarmed, you can have 500 str/agil etc.

This makes caps... but ever increasing caps as long as you keep updating your industry.

how so? please explain. The gear on people from botting villages is not significantly better then what people from smaller villages can make. if they have a 230q battleaxe and you are only able to produce a 200q battleaxe you could have 600 melee and they could have 690.

4th root of (690/600) = 3% gain over your opponent in terms of attack weight (I think).

yeah but if they cannot bot stats, they will bot more industry...so, how fast they can reach that 230q than people don't bot? And in the mean while in the late game would be like simply having caps...so i cannot see the benefits from this...i could be wrong

There's got to be something for people to raise though otherwise it is true that without some sort of grinding aspect to quality or stat raising some people do get bored. Botters can certainly push their industry higher than the average player at a faster rate but even they reach a point where eventually they become capped by their own stats and resources and that initial advantage lessens significantly.

Personally I'm all for equipment related caps as it's something I've suggested before too. :P

sMartins wrote:An even more neat thing we could make...it's to have a "dynamic curve" setted on the average stats of the server (with some conditions, active players, etc)....in this way we could hit very bad botters, cause if the average is about 100 (for example) and you have 10K you are clearly a botter. More you go away from the average more the penalty would be...but this is even a more complex thing...as always i hope you can understand what i mean :D .

Yeah but in my mind something like this would be virtually better....btw logaritm should be already better than parabolas of the current system, cause they are slower

I agree but the way it's scaled is too drastic. With only 10% bonus between 300 and 2000(!) there would be no reason to go past 300 at all. Maybe something more like 10% bonus in between 300 and 500/600 would be more appropriate?
