A) exploits need to be fixed.
B) when they get fixed, practical means of hunting will be needed. The current system is just stupid and people use the exploits so often because of this issue.

Don't get me wrong. people just sat in a boat (or in shallow water) building up IP vs a bear and then one-shotting it with a high quality sword in legacy. If there's some way to exploit the system, someone will find a way to do it and repeat it until they get bored with the game.

Heh, someone seems to not understand that when exploits become mechanics, the game design failed.
