Crafting Curios and Finding Curios Consumes Too Much Time

Of course you don't have to. You don't have to log on. You don't have to turn on your computer. But you want to play, and play effectively in a way you're not left in the dust. The "you don't have to" response can't really apply when I, along with many others, want to stay at pace with our village needs/competitors development. Inb4 you can't beat bottling monster factions anyways.

In the end it comes back to bots and whether or not the devs are going to do something about them. Study desks were introduced because most custom clients have an autostudy feature implemented in to them that essentially did the same thing as the study desk except the player has to be online. Forage bots gather the curios that allow a player to keep up with this habit and so study desks are the resolution to this issue.

Except they don't really resolve it as evidenced by this thread, all it's done so far is push players towards putting themselves in to a circumstance where if their study desk isn't full they don't feel they are being very competitive or same thing if you're not making use of them to build up several characters.

Don't get me wrong though they are certainly nice but it's just another one of those situations where something was implemented to reduce the advantage bots and custom clients give over other players that can't or won't make use of the same, but in the end I think it feels like more "chore stuff" when you're struggling to fill maybe even one desk.

So you dislike that it is now obvious you play inefficient? You rather like this blissful ignorance?

Thank you for your snide comment, albeit incorrect. At what point can you claim I'm inefficient and at what point will you realize this is a thread about my personal preference to how I spend my time playing? I don't know why people feel the need to attempt to slide in any negative remark they possibly can without staying on point.

I am trying to understand this comment:
CSPAN wrote:Study desks are really nice, but it also creates stress in a way. Before the desks, you crafted and foraged curios for a few hours , you were good for several days with that. Now it's gone overnight. Creating a perpetual task of getting curios.

With the actual system this can be solved by allowing 2 study desks x person.

Everyone has a higher effiency in studying curiosities. Before we had study desks, curios wouldn't replinish automatically into your study while offline. I couldn't keep my computer on over night to let my client do it. So what originally would have lasted a few days because most people sleep at some point and wouldn't leave their computers running, now lasts a significantly less amount of time. Resulting in the need to craft and forage more frequently.

But nothing is changed. Before you study less curios. Now you try to study more and complain it is too much. Just study less as before. You are the one that has changed your game, not the desk.

I couldn't write a better answer than Kaios did, Study desks allow people who don't uses extra feature to not fall too far behind other users, yes it takes a lot of time and you shouldn't expect to be able to do that for several characters, unless you are playing the game a lot.

I make sure all my curios goes to my main, my alts only get the craps I don't want on my main, this way the desk is always full without much efforts.
There is a lot of long lasting decent curios that won't take a lot of place in your desk and will need a lot of time to finish, ( I like the Q60 fine feathers, Mallard/Swan for example) the more long lasting curios the less time you need for your desk.

Sometime it can be at the expense of your LP/hours or will requires more Int, but you will not be able to compete with bot users no matter how much effort you put into it.
Depending on the time you are willing to invest you can always find a way to not fall to far behind, for me study desk are a really nice feature and I can't think of any way to improve it except this :

I would love it :D your desk full of curios for the night and an other one full of Ants :D
