I just think when a new world is annouced there should be something on the Homepage that show that, with a counter, a date, or something ... without any need to read deeply the forum to find that. Homepage, World XX is going to start on XXXXXX, anyone interested can just look at the homepage once a month or so.

After talking to about 7 other old players we are all in agreement. If we could get an email, which then would pop up on our cell phones thanks to connecting them to our email accounts, we would all return.

Having someway of telling people "Hey world reset come back and have a chance!" would bring back a lot of people that quit because they were so far behind they couldn't compete.

Any specific reason?
Because (how i see it) you will notify people who likes the game, but are not currently playing to get a chance to prepare for the coming reset.
In turn you will get a higher playerbase (atleast at start) and potentially also more people spending money, earning you guys a buck and at the same time more interest for the game.
I can only see advantages to be honest, unless it's very painful to create a mailing system.

I really LOVE Haven & Hearth it's probaly one of the best games i've ever played. But the reason i am not playing right now is the feeling of being to far behind, i would love to try all the new mechanics implemented during W10, but i will not be doing so until a reset. I do understand that it is not viable to keep resetting worlds over and over again, but until you guys definitely state that there will not be any more wipes in the future i am confident people will stop playing for a reason and another, and instead of joining in a game where you feel so far behind, you will simply wait for a new world.

Reason being that he dislikes spam, and such.

I'm trying to bring myself around on the issue, to be honest. I can see that some people (who aren't me) might appreciate the service.

That being said, I'm also slightly worried about what it might mean for our status at the big e-mail providers to send out a couple of hundred thousand e-mails from our domain, especially if we do it at every patch. It would suck to be forever stuck in spam-domain status, but I might very well be exaggerating the problem.

It would be a quite stupid move to flag all incoming mail from >50% of the internet as SPAM...

Just for the record, I added DKIM support to the Haven domains a couple of months back, and from what I can see, that has helped our spam status a lot, not least with GMail. I should add DMARC support as well, so that I can receive reports about our spam status from them, I just haven't bothered reading the specs yet.

Most games don't send out mail notifications for every patch. But alot of games does send out when there is a major overhaul, expansion or something else that would bring in people to the game. In my view that is the purpose of a mass mail, to bring in more players. The players who are already playing will most likely be fully aware of any patches that is released.

In all honesty, i don't think this would be a spamming issue if you limit it to only bigger changes or resets. I also believe that the majority of people that are not currently playing the game is solely interested in a possible wipe, or something that drastically changes the gameplay. That would most likely limit the amount of mass mail you guys send to 1, possible 2 per year.

An opt-in notification for large updates would cool, but people would complain anytime it's not a new world.

I would love an opt-in e-mail feature for updates. Would save me time each week, not having to check, as it would just be emailed to me.

Why not have a multiple choice opt in?
[ ] Don't send me anything.
[ ] Check here to ONLY get world reset notice
[ ] Check here to add major new updates ( Dungeons added, combat overhauls, etc)
[ ] Check here to add whenever we add any changes

That way people choose what level of notice they get. My primary reason is this is the most active I have been on the forum since February of 2017. Like I said my friends and I are interested in coming back at the start of the new world but with work and other commitments I can't check the forum daily to see if/when it will happen.

I wouldn't see this as spam myself just what it is. A notice that I asked for.
