Its not magic, but physical text on the coin!

What granger is suggesting is that the coin keeps track of all circulated currency in existence in real time. That's definitely not just text considering.

You could make it a hearth magic to hand waive away the magic element but I still feel like it's taking too much power out of the social construct. I remember people deciding not to trade with DIS because they didn't trust their tin currency back when Hedgehugs became the trade center.
Lucky: haven is so quirky

So about about inspecting the origin coin press giving data about how many total coins are in circulation?

Question: Who makes access to their coinpress public?

Nobody.
I think the idea however was to be able to tell how many coins you've minted, but a good minter would be transcribing that anyway if they cared to know.
If you want to know how many coins you've put into circulation, keep track of it yourself. On the point of counterfeit coins, perhaps a label of who minted them would suffice.

Sounds good then you can read who minted the coin and compare it to the public information(forums etc) that the coin creator releases.

Master of Coin anyone ;)

Edit*

One of the issues i see even for the creator of the coin it can be hard to track the current circulation of the coin. so the option to check the Coin press to view current coins in circulation would be a nice benefit, this is where game should take precedence over rl.
