Boredom and sane Satiation for Curiosities and Food

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

tons of people before have suggested a sort of 'reverse satiation', cravings in other words. sort of combines the idea of hunger and satiations where if you haven't ate a certain type of food in awhile you'll get a bonus to that food type

I kindof disagree.
Last world the most efficient foods by far were:
Osc/MBC/Piglet Wurst/Sunlit(Harmsen if low stats, Majorero if archer)

I'm assuming when you checked which foods had been eaten how much, these were all in the top 10 or so, but I'd bet my bottom dollar things like, for example, meatpies were consumed more than most of these... In spite of the fact it's harder to mass produce adequate meatpies than adequate cheese, cheese factories having the more utility than baking factories(ovens only made meatpies, cheese factories can be converted between cheeses easily), and meatpies simply being less efficient in terms of resources spent to feps gained. Other foods in similar position would've been, like, pumpkin pies/tuber mash/Formaela/Caciotta/Chabichou/Maybe Apple Pies.

A lot of foods got eaten just because that's what people wanted to make, or that's what was on the market, in spite of it being worse than the alternatives.
The only way to make it so there isn't a meta for foods is to make it basically questing... But I really don't think anybody wants it to be basically questing. Having more foods that aren't laughably terrible compared to the best foods would go a long way, though.

Maybe somebody has a decent idea, but I see absolutely no way to make satiations do anything other than further restrict what people eat.

Removing satiations is like removing most of the foods from the game.
I know if satiations won't matter I will just make a good meat pie industry setup again and not bother with anything else.

I would like to see every food group have endgame foods for the top stats while satiations stay.

Well, yeah, by definition that's kind of the idea: To restrict you so that you don't just pound away cheese all day.

Surely you are not actually arguing that the game would be better if there was nothing preventing you from eating literally nothing outside of the best food item, with zero diversity, for each base attribute?

Simple solution: nerf cheese, buff everything else. Factor in tech progress to get to some foods and difficulty and amount of ingredients for it. Example: Wonderful Wilderness Wurst--unless it has received a huge buff this world, it will still likely be one of the hardest foods to source and have some of the least returns for the investment of various factors.

Really, cheese is one of the least nutritious foods around. Milk is great for infants, not so good for anyone else in more than a small to moderate quantity.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Then whatever the next best late game foods are will be exclusively eaten. It's obvious people eat a bunch of cheese late into the world since it's the best late game food. No one's eaten cheese this early into the world, are we going to say buff cheese because of that?

Current satiation system sucks, doesn't promote variety because the satiations regenerate so quickly you're better off just running a bot to wait until your satiation gets reset to eat again.

I'm not saying that's necessarily the best option, but I think it's significantly better than the current system. Eating 40 cupboards of mbc/osc/sunlit in one sitting once a week mightn't be very aesthetically pleasing, but mechanically much nicer than nibbling away 40 cupboards of anglerfish/osc/meatpies over literally 1000+ feasts in the same week.

Everybody will still only be eating 3-5 kinds of food, it's just not going to be reasonable to eat it efficiently without a bot. (I do think the current system actually feels nice in the very early game, though)

Ok, requesting strong, good, and healthy incentives to keep a varied diet.
