I'm gonna go ahead and say this: cheesehunting feels more like actual hunting than normal manfight combat system pve hunting does. if you remove cheesy ways to hunt people will just grind stats until they can kill the animal with closed eyes with uppercut and sideswipe.

Well actually that's so damn true, doing all the "cheesy" tactics with animal blocking and stuff actually feels like hunting, if not that then people will just wait till they can fight the animals without losing a single hitpoint because there is no point to hunt and get wounds that you will have to heal for so long.

1. Bring the animal to somewhere there is a lot of shallow water so i can use my boat to block its path when its retreating.
The procedure goes like: bring to big shallows, shoot with bow, chase with boat and attack it with combat moves, boat back into deep water when it aggros again and repeat this until its dead.

2. Bring animal to shore. Surround it with alts and then just shoot it and attack it until its dead. the alts completely surround it so it cannot run away.

3. if theres no water bring it to a really long cliff where it cannot path around to get you then get an alt to surround it with liftable stones and then kill it over the wall (you need atleast some ua for this and another person to attack it with you). Im not sure if feeling animals can break stones though. Thats atleast how you hunted mammoths early game this world.

4. Aggroing a lot of animals so they block the retreating path of the first animal, so pretty much the 1st one i typed except theres no need for you to use your boat to block its path since its not going anywhere.

pretty much this.

make a pen with boats, logs, rocks or bodys(dead or alive).
mammoth range attack can be beat by hiding behind rocks (maybe don't make that a thing ;) )

Punch things to death with 30+ alts.
going in and out of caves or house doors or up and down cliff faces.

this will likely be used on mammoths, bears, troll and dungeon on day one.

But like others are saying, that's how haven hunting feels nice. PvE face tanking is boring.
The only thing i would say is figure out how to make mammoths more hard, they are the easiest thing to kill on day one.
and by that i mean easier then fking ants.
and make sure the cheeses can't be used in dungeons.
WARNING! MY ENGISH SUCKS.

People are roleplaying trapping when they hunt because haven doesn't have traps supported by intended game mechanics yet.

Spawn 20 people in with no stats and gang bang the animal. Literally.

I can see that perspective.

Honestly?

Let us cheese hunt. We are humans, and are smarter than animals and game code. Human beings followed animals for days until the animal died of exhaustion. Humans killed wooly mammoths with fucking sharp sticks. Humans build traps when they aren't able to fight their prey, or simply don't care to.

Cheesehunting isn't even that easy. It's usually a pain in the ass. If someone wants to summon 30 alts to kill a bear, let them. Absolutely let them. It's not worth time time. Bears are not rewarding, their leather isn't special and bear capes aren't remarkable early game for a number of reasons. Players need bones and hides and if you're suggesting the only way to acquire these be by genocide of hedgehogs and squirrels then by god the early game will be 20% more annoying and stupid than it already is, which isn't to say very much at all.

I guess the thing that bothers me most with sploits is that you never even risk anything. That's not true IRL. Sometimes, IRL, the mammoth wins.

Frankly, this is a product of the new KO system and nothing else. There was risk to trying to cheese an animal previously. If you fucked it up it was entirely possible you died trying. That's not the case anymore.
