Replace hearthing with wilderness spawn when the character is on a different continent than his hearth. Wilderness spawn should be confined to the same continent, except for a rare case when whole continent is claimed.
This is somewhat abusable by giving random free teleportation but same abuse can be implemented right now by destroying the hearth and blocking the place where the hearthling logged out.

I've a feeling they'll both be around long after you've given up on this world.

I think you miss our point. In my case this is precisely what annoys me. Exploration and travel should require an investment of time, you can log out where you are and log back in and come home. There's nothing about 'long-distance travel' that requires you to be home the same day.

Locality is a thing, locality drives trade. Pick your home location carefully, plan long trips thoughtfully, and start to find out what it means to have a 'place' in HnH be a place with meaning, instead of just one more resource you can port to.
for me thats not fun i want to have fun when i play this game not make it a chore if you want to play hardcore Thats your thing i want to actually advance a little everytime i play if a trip to forage curios or to hunt takes hours its going to be a 3 day afair to fill your study desk and by the time you're done you need to start again, i don't mind walking there but porting home its a necesity. I can't accept even a cooldown in case you see another player or something else that can kill you. If you take out return to hf peacefull people will be inside there walls at all times and the "badguys" you're trying to fuck obee will have dominion of the world as always.
https://strawpoll.com/xh2d3zr2 if you give a fuck about mining vote on this. Make mining great again! Bring back old supports.

I don't.

Does this need to result in the ability to do it every 10 seconds (as long as you don't care about TW)?

I feel like referencing Ad Hominem and then using a Strawman argument in the same thread is a bit unfair of you Granger.

I've never botted except what default allows and the idea of limiting hearthing really displeases me. Precisely because we've tried it, most people hated it, and it was removed for that reason.
