I think a lot of people here vastly underestimate how hard it is to make an un-cheesable AI. Players also like cheesing Ai to a degree, because they're "outsmarting the animal". To a degree, it's about getting the right amount of cheese.

I'm curious if target randomization and flat damage reduction would help, but I don't know how this is being done and I'm sure people would find a way around that.

Devs are looking for ideas on how to fix such exploits and abuses.

Why not just merge it? This thread is 100% about combat being broken with regards to hunting.

combat is broken with regards to anything. Even pvp.

How is using current game mechanics to it's fullest potential to mitigate risk and maximize reward bug exploitation?

A bug implies that such mechanics are an unintended side effect.

i highly doubt the developers "intend" for players to run around murdering mammoths when they have maybe 1/10th the stats of said mammoth. im saying that people who post proof of obvious bug abuse should be banned. youre going to try telling me the devs gave these things the ridiculous stats they have so that people can abuse a method to make them nigh invincible as long as they keep logging alts to agro the thing? no. i dont buy it son.

What's the actual issue here that people are talking about? People are always going to find ways to kill strong animals through teamwork and cheesing the AI. They already made the survival hardcap to slow the progress you get from killing strong high quality stuff so what's actually the problem?

honestly, it would drastically extend the life of the game if the devs didnt have to constantly nerf everything into oblivion and apply needless layers of tedium and punishment, to deal with the players who run around actively exploiting bugs, or mechanics that were simply not fully thought out and tested. it would also likely result in a larger player base since youd have less murderous russins running up to your stick hut and screaming ПОЛУЧИЛСЯ СУКА! and murdering an obvious nub for no reason other than to add another skeleton to the pile. obviously the latter is not linked to bug abuse, but its oh so coincidental that they happen to be the same players in many cases.

the problem is that these people have already found a way to bug exploit their way around that supposed cap. even without them clearly bypassing an intended mechanic, it should not be possible for them to exploit broken mechanics and bugs/glitches to kill end game critters.

or allow animals to bash trees, boulders, bushes, basically anything that can be used as a wall(except cliffs) certain animals have better bash. A Mammouth should be able to bash up to palisades. And make thier Pathing more Direct.

Also make certain animals faster and faster.


coulod someone exploit this, yea, so then pick up where i left off and improve it better and better!
