If you are dealt only tin, you need to find other ways to get iron/silver/gold etc.. It is called trading or pillaging.

Haha don't have iron? Just fight the guys that do!

for me i have a good mix of tin copper iron to do what i need. The problem is that Quarryman and miner haven't even been looked at which is retarded, because i have had quests asking me to chip or mine everything BUT the new stones and i abandoned alot of quests for my next reason.

Quests are still acting like the old distribution, i have been asked for iron ochre and so far i haven't found any searching every cave in a 50 grid radius using roots and even on lvl 2 and 3 and 4 etc this applies to hornsilver (galena rich now) and malachite and black ore. Some areas are rich in casserite and chalcopy and heavy earth and im guessing its setup as supergrid distribution which fucks quests alot.Last world i had iron ochre and tin on lvl 1 lvl 2 was hornsilver chalcopy malachite bloodstone and level 3 iron ochre black ore hornsilver etc and within a 20 grid radius and the same applies for the tunnels throughout w10 i made.

Imagine having to trade.
Imagine complaining first level of mines doesn't fulfill all your needs for metal.

Come back when you have mined on all the levels and no one wants to trade with you.

My feels for this exactly, locked in azrid's post.

I'm thinking ore variety is wider in lower levels.

Imagine trading with killers is something I don't want to do. Imagine my neighbors are nice but are in the same supergrid. So imagine you can think without trading. Now, any solution?

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

There's a lot of boogeymen out there... there aren't necessarily a lot of random killers. Make an alt, send them to your neighbor to chat. Odds are they're more scared than you are. Unless you're seeing a lot of random scents (other than trespassing) around, the situation is going to be worse in your head than in reality.

Perhaps it gets better the deeper you go- though L3 seems to be similar near our village. That would be an acceptable change.

From what I've heard L3 introduces new ores into the mix, but following the same pattern. Still entirely possible you're screwed by it.

When I realized that metal situation is noticeably different this world I went on bigger-than-usual prospecting mission. Took me a few days and I think I covered like 1/3 of a continent. Managed to find all level 1 ores. Fuck heavy earth, but cassiterite, chalc and iron ochre I see as essentials to start with. Some of those I found nearby. But for the third we had to establish a remote mine. Which I find not too bad. Yeah, it's different from before. You can't just plop you village wherever you want and expect to find all the necessary ores underneath you. You have to scout the surroundings and secure other sources of ore.

I see only one real issue with the new system. If you managed to spawn on an isolated island you are more or less fucked. But that goes not only because of ores, the rest of the resources (especially for credos) will make you feel fucked on a small island too, no matter how secure it feels there.
