shubla, youre the only one thing unnatural in this topic. even if the guy claiming to live on island is a fake post, he still makes a solid, NATURAL point why there can be clean water. if you want to trade water, get high quality. on top of that, people already trade for not even the top but still better water they have. i reported one of your post since its not only bad taste but this is too much even for you.

[quite]That's already part of the game. If you want high quality water you either have to find it or trade for it.[/quote]
Trading for high-quality water is a special case of trading for water and they are two different things.

If the whole point is just to create a market for any-q water, then we can make the same with most other things!

Let's make trees grow only in certain areas! It makes no sense that I can grow any kind of tree in the same biome...

Let's also start an any-q soil market, by making the soil not fertile in some areas, or too hard to dig in others! So people living there are forced to buy soil for gardening at any level!

And sense we are talking about soil fertility, how about crops? Shouldn't be able to grow all kinds of crops in one place, and in the same season! Let's turn crops into a localised resource, so we can have a real market for it! People won't just buy 50seeds to start their own plantation, they will have to buy it over and over just to have it! Let the farm trade begin!

Speaking of unnatural things: plants in pots shouldn't grow in caves. animals too should have some problem. and can we talk about windmills? how are they supposed to work in a small cave?

But wait, there's more! This game is full of unrealistic things! I can lift a boat over my head, without dropping the content! Hell I can even lift another fully loaded boat while I'm rowing with a dugout!
I'm also great at balancing the content of wheelbarrows when I lift them over my head! And I can lift cupboards full of stuff, with very little effort!

I would go on, but I made my point.
The game is full of unrealistic things, and just because something doesn't currently have a market, it doesn't it should.

Actually this mechanic could very easily add something good to the game. If saltwater 'pushed' its way onto nearby tiles, raising the water table and making it salty, then it would makes sense for freshwater to do the same. Building wells close to lakes/river/swamps would be easier because the water is just a couple feet below the surface.

Additionally if being on an island is too hard, just move. Islands make a lot of sense for building trading hubs when ocean travel becomes normal. Making them a 'bad' place for noobs to settle just helps them not get wreaked when the big boys decide that's where THEY want to live

This reads to me like a 'no' from loftar.

I agree, bad idea.

The game has rain now. So I guess it's moot.
