What I see is another push to avoid using the numerous balanced options we have.
I predict once this gets added no one will use it and people will start pushing for another version of firemaking.
Its not interesting game development, its not fun, it doesn't add anything meaningful.

I wouldn't say fire making has an inordinate amount of options. It's not interesting or meaningful by itself but not many individual implementations are. The quantity of options for a given purpose, and the differing availability of materials across the world, together create the emergent gameplay that differentiates one settlement from another and prevents the world from feeling the same all over.
