It would help ensure ideas aren't necro'd in their original threads and could still be referenced with links if there is anything worth adding to it. tbh, this is the first time I've seen necroing as a problem. Lack of moderation + dead forums are the causes imo.
I don't know what is with this anti-necropost culture knowing that some thoughts are up to date after many years, that something can be added to the thought, and also having in mind that this is what forums are for. You could have empty forums with not so many posts, but what is the purpose of forums if there is no person who makes them a little bit alive and if they don't have an observer/spectator?
and if I made a new thread about the same thing and the only different thing was recent date, would that be so much different?
I have tried finding the phrase "necro" in search and didn't find any post by Jorb or Loftar, for MagicManICT I found it, but despite this, even he said the thing below in some thread

Some of it is on the development radar and is just awaiting for a time in the "priority queue," other suggestions have been firmly decided against, but most are just suggestions just waiting for someone to add to it. Why rehash all the old arguments when we don't have an issue with saying "Here's this idea, and I think this is why it should be added that nobody mentioned before."
Most forums have rules about necroposting. we don't have explicit rules on it, just ask that you don't do so without at least adding something to the previous conversation.
