Arguably, that would also lead to hermits who do know what's up not being able to fuck off to another chill continent so while this would save the complete newbs it would prevent ppl from going through whirlpool to basically an empty contient.
I get the appeal in thingwall spawning that you see other players but you will see them on launch anyways, and ppl don't know that they should really go away from the thinwalls to start with.

Same, I also think jorb spawns TWs manually before the new world and a TW on a locked island is a bit silly if he will go for global spawning which is the right decision unless they make the main continent massively bigger than the rest

Thingwalls are certainly not placed manually. :)

Dont care much about thingwall spawn or not, just think spawn should be evenly spread and not on main continent only, to avoid spruce slaughter.

^me unable to find another player in effectively 15 hours of game time when the population was hovering around 1400 in a world with no central spawn.

Nobody wants to play an MMO where you never see another player. Even the people who are trying to not be found would have less fun if it weren't a realistic possibility.

Don't care about the thingwall spawn either way, but I feel like people's complaints against it are kindof hysteria

My gripe is really just sovl-related, and echoes what others have said. Having specific spawn areas and removing that "dumped into the cold empty wilderness alone" feeling from the game is, I think, a negative more than a positive.

I highly doubt either the above claim, OR the below, are true because SnuggleSnail has a proven track record of lying about his ingame experiences to justify his desired game changes or protect his ego. However, let's establish what he thinks is ideal through a simple example:

I appreciate the persistent open world aspect, finding someone else to trade with or their ruins to loot, but that feeling of getting plunked nude in the forest with nothing but nature to accompany you.. building up to proper industry from there..

goddamn, i'm not one to whine about wanting private servers / offline play on the forums but it's really something that should be considered following the steam release.

no cuz it will kill the game cuz this game is so easy to modify a private servers are made who would want to play the vanilla version anymore

my opinion the day Haven goes private all support for the game is gone or it will be gone shortly after

back on subject

the thing wall spawning is garbage at least it will lead to spawn camping like I said my solution is bring back the random spawning the solution to the Hearthfire problem is it add Decay to hearth fires all you need to do to repair it and stop the Decay is regularly use your hearth fire and you always as long as you're teleporting back to your base regularly or are online it should not decay if you're a claim owner it should not Decay at all so you can take a break if you need a long one for some reason as long as your claim is active the Fire won't decay either

you can add one more tab to claim permissions to protect people's Hearth fires that live with you so they won't decay if they're within your territory/personal claim

Yes, this.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy
