wow. A lot of stuff to ponder, but those in this post do have relevance. Post on your main.

But I too wish the Devs would work on the "cheese' mechanics that do plague the current state of H&H

it will never not mechanically be about none cheesing and this is do to the Dev process of not planning out mechanics. Loftar and Jorb tend to make an idea, and just see what happens. What honestly makes some of the best gameplay (and why many of us stick around).

Though I can kinda see your point, I also think it's time they either get involved in the game or seek advise from those who are still active. Too many of their "improvements" is hurting the game.

I must ask, based on your observation. What does jorb care about when it comes to this game? It seems to decrease year after year.

I actually agree with you.

Oh dear.

The person most famous for allegedly killing multiple bears with a knife as a deliberate hunting method is the American frontiersman Ben Lilly.
Lilly, who lived from 1856 to 1936, was a legendary big game hunter and the last active mountain man of the historical American Southwest. He was known many times to fight and dispatch bears and cougars in hand-to-hand combat using a large, custom-made Bowie knife (specifically a double-edged S-shaped dagger, sometimes called "The Lilly Knife"). His reputation for using a knife was significant enough to become a major part of the folklore surrounding him.

Though He did use guns and whatnot. But the idea is not as far fetched as one may think.

He cares about milking the gold subs once a year (plus a month to make sure last year's subs ran dry). It's the only time they make any changes, even if the changes are usually bad.

I am guessing haven is not their full time job, so it's easy to understand why they don't care about it much.

So it seems all the veterans are in agreement that this would indeed fix the cheese? Some complain 10 year vets say they couldn't even defeat a moose.

Interestingly with these changes new players would not notice any difference in difficulty as they get started with hunting. They would train up the stats and beat mobs just as they do now. Only the veterans with custom clients would suddenly find the game far too difficulty.

Yeah no, these suggestions are bad and convoluted, you're trying to outline the exact cheese mechanic (as you perceive it anyways haha) and shove crutches into what you see as "holes".

First of all, to "cheese"-cheese you need a decent weapon and stats. Go ahead and try to kill a moose with a flint knife and a boat. Hence, this mechanic actually falls much closer to "raise your skill to be able to hunt" category.

Second. The problem is animals "forgetting" they are running scared after a cheeser re-engages combat. Make the "I'm wounded and/or can't reach my enemy so I run away" a 15 minute persistent buff on an animal and not a combat state that resets after the combat disengages, cheese solved. You can still hunt from a boat, but if you're a clumsy hunter and didn't utilize your surroundings and let your prey run inland -- go follow blood splats on the ground and hope the animal bleeds to death if your stats are not on par. Hunting as intended.

Third. All speed altering mechanics are cancer and should be eliminated from game. This is my strong belief. Adding more intricacies to player movement will always make things worse. Recently added sled abused day one - case in point.

Finally, I'm all for "not able to use attack/destroy when waterfaring". Also, I'm very aware of the problems it raises and therefore such limitation will never ever ever be implemented in any shape or form. Probably go read "developers thoughts on pvp" and imagine the immovable indestructible objects cluttering the waterways (and much much more).

I agree that hunting with melee weapons is stupid. Hunting should be done with bows and thrown spears.
But before addressing the cheese, there should be a way to play the game without it. There is currently no way to kill a mammoth, orca or whale without cheese.
Hence why cheese will never get addressed because jorbtar don't care to make the game playable without cheese.
