I genuinely don't understand how people are apologising for this monetization scheme.

Wake up - paying for hours? This is a complete fucking scam.

Honestly I was looking forwards to playing it with my community of bros and messing around but dang, I'm not paying for this. I mean why would I pay for game time that's just going to be used in a game about sitting around and waiting for things to be built; aka paying to watch your character stand there for a little while and get stat boosts from it multiple times a month. I had fun playing around with it before but I don't think I wanna.. like.. put money into this.

How's about we all find another game? We don't HAVE to play this. Let's just move on and find another experience. It'll all be cool.

Unless this is all a ruse, which in that case I don't see why we shouldn't check this game out if it's free.

Problem is is that there is no other game like this. Dont say Dayz or Rust they are different

Oh well yes, those games are very different. What I'm saying is that, is the price really worth that enjoyment? We can play something free and use the money to buy other things instead of spending it on this game. If we all just drop this game the devs will probably just get all miffed and do something about us not playing. We live in a world where money is a very powerful thing, and we don't have to use that power to get a game like this. City of Heroes was a game unlike a lot of others with it's indepth customization and insane amount of character creation potential, but it got shut down and we can never play it again. It was a shame but.. it sort of happened. If you want to buy the game, I'm not upset at you. Gaming is a hobby and I feel people should have the right to play what they want, especially if they enjoy it.

Still, by buying this, we're supporting this kind of behavior in the already greed-ridden video game industry. Do you see how many indie devs are charging 20 bucks for what are essentially flash games you'd find online anywhere else? The DLC rampant in the AAA industry, too. People seem to want money more than to give the players an enjoyable experience, and that seems to be the road that Haven and Hearth is taking. It's a shame, really.

5 bucks still seems like too much, honestly. We had a small playerbase in the last world, a pay2play barrier is only going to lower that number. This world is going to be empty and dead.

On the upside, there will be no raiders I guess.

Wurm Online, a game also in Java, with tons of crafting, grinding and all costs ~9$ per month while providing you solid servers with tons of space and a good community. And almost weekly updates.

And this is 15$.

People will fanboy up and argue over anything that a company tries to scam them with. People can get away with this sort of thing because people will always defend the people doing it. Not to mention there's desensitization in work, too. There was a huge outrage over DLC when it was introduced with Bestheda trying to sell Horse Armor in Oblivion for around 3 bucks, but they just didn't listen and waited for people to give up; eventually people started buying into the idea and that sort of greed become almost sort of accepted. The things companies will do to make a quick buck can become rather disturbing once you get into the deeper science of it all.

Let me ask you guys a question, wouldn't be better if, instead of this Pay 2 Play model, wouldn't be better if it were a Pay 2 Win model?
A premium account system that would have some advantages over the free one, costumes, an account chest, xp bonus and all that shit that we always live with in another games?

I would pay for something like this! And my friends won't have to and would still be able to play with me!

I could accept even a paying method to recover dead characters!

The major problem with this system is that you're probably going to pay to play alone.

Which is still too much for a game in alpha that is barely updated (looking at HnH1 example) and has awful servers with russians ruining your fun.

Boy, sure is worth the 10$
