I think he was more talking the fact that anyone can built a setup/infrastucture, but non-botters can't run it everyday without spending hours of their time, building takes times yes, but so does running it. Botters can simply turn on a character and go for a nap/to school/watch TV or go play other games while people without takes a lot more effort.

the logical action is players set a hard limit to animal population and keep it at a good food comsumption rate... competitive players will never set that limit... they want always more...

if devs make it easier, great, but competition will push to the limit once again... then more complaining...

i'm a hermit with no bots and having to destroy foodtroughs because animal population is taking forever to eat... still i'm not planning on increasing population because that would be just more work...

5females per animal isn't pushing it, i've seen the botting players have 40+ breeding at once, so to make that comparison is very silly of you.

Like I said the logical solution is to make q growth less random so you don't need 100 breeding females to get good rolls each generation.

I'll try to measure what time it takes to eat 50% for my farm
I have 12 pregnant now but it seems like its taking forever to eat my troughs.

Having items complex to produce increases the incentive to trade them for items which I at least like to produce.

As for easy good rolls for breeding I have to disagree - It'll end as having top-notch animals in faster time meaning less content in game.

I would propose insteadsomething that is harder to bot (not fully impossible):
* once in a while pregnantanimal requires some particular food. Let it be 4 options:
- make better E/S/V for baby
- make better quantity
- make better hide/milk/meat quality
- make better breeding

It goes as random as any pregnant female - corks, fish, cypress cones - the more randomness the harder life for botters.

If you feed it within some reasonable time frame - selected buff is received.

Result:
- it is really hard to make a bot which can find any item on base - there are too many items ingame.
- manual shepherd who checks his herd often and tends for them would raise Q several times faster than crazy botter with 50 pregnant cows.
- food requirement can be reduced since animal quantity is not the key factor to success anymore

Conclusion:
more non-dull activities, less dull activities, harder life for bots.

Hm, how about quest reward items for improving rolls?

5 cows, 4 animals ... This is not a selection, it is a mockery of it. This is not interesting, it is not necessary to think, no need to choose. Just does not make sense, and there is no choice.

At the forum in another topic, the man asked to make selection more difficult. I read here about 5-10 animals, and think, and for whom he requested? Single player with 5-10 animals does not make sense to bother with a choice, and if it is made even more difficult, he will never see a decent quality of their animals. If only he did not buy them from people who use bots or a lot of hands.

The routine does kill interest. In my village there were more 10 people, the chef had gone first, then left the farmers. A man comes home from work, he has a 2-3 hours before going to bed to play. And almost all the time he spends on routine. It is quickly bored.

People who have bots and now may increase their herds. If they want it now will make thousands of new animals! They have only one limitation - the desire / do not wish to. I think that if you make it easier feeding of animals is not much affected. Developers said they would experiment in the world, then let them try as an experiment to reduce feed consumption. Let them do the experiment, it is better than to argue or be afraid!
You can not win - to lead.

Farm pumpkins for animal feed, alot more efficient. I have one small field of pumpkins and itself provides enough food for 10+ animals for months.

well considering I just started back/over, my Pumpkin Q is round 30 while my beets and carrots are round 70.

For me pumpkins take a hella lots of time.

I would really like random events in animal production, as well as in all aspects of the game. I would think that would be the #1 way to discourage bot use.

something that's been said earlier, a time based event that happens randomly that pops up on your screen. that gives you a definite boost in Q if you perform it right(kind of like the "Strange moods" in dwarf fortress) make said event happen at random intervals once in a blue moon.
