It's been quite a while in HnH since I last ran into something so fundamentally flawed as this. As a game developer myself, I will say that gating an entire style of play behind the RNG of another style of play is just bad. There's no justification other than 'we dont want players to start with this but we are too lazy/poorly prioritized to give it a proper progression.' Or the game is one that deliberately allows RNG to completely screw you over by-design (which is just bad in a game with large time investments + permadeath). I'm starting to enjoy HnH overall otherwise, despite it's numerous caveats, time sinks, and flaws. It's indie, I get it. There's nothing better out there really. But this? This is nonsensically broken.
I'm a noob. Ignore me. RNG still isn't a great way to run an entire system though...
