Speaking of slimes, one almost gave me a heart attack. I was mining when I destroyed a tile and I was engaged in combat. My internet was lagging and the creature wouldn't lag so I thought that it was a troll. I had basically just accepted my fate when a slime appeared. So that's how I found out that slimes can spawn from mining tiles.

They also hit blue.

They are also very fast. Can't outrun them unless you are very close to exit. Also seem to ignore armor.
Circumstantial evidence (community chat): 976 str, 362 agi, 100 unarmed, 162 melee is not enough to fight more than two of them - you get wounds. And they drop 5 at a time when you mine...

They are also not deterring bots since you can have bot-fighter nearby on auto aggro when you mine...

Slime Nerf

Postby LostJustice » Mon Apr 16, 2018 3:16 am

So I was mining and this happened...

Image

Had a ridiculous amount of slimes spawn and instantly was pushed to 100 blue and green and then took 250 soft and just ran and that happened. I know slimes are meant to deter problems with mining but this is actually ridiculous and really seems like an extremely over punishing mechanic to the game right now. I used to enjoy mining and even after the slimes came I kept trying to mine because I still enjoy it but with these slimes it is making it extremely difficult. It isn't just hard to mine, it becoming impossible.

Can you please consider changing the max amount from a tile being able to spawn or decrease difficulty on these or just consider reworking this mechanic so it is difficult but not absolutely punishing.

Yeah, I agree, these slimes are a little out of hand at the moment. Something should be done to them whether it's less spawning or making them weaker.

I cant wait to see how salty people become next world when they can't mine straight to level 5 because they're gonna get their asses kicked by slimes

Disagree.
I hope they make deeper levels have more harder and unique opponents.
When it comes to slime the only problem is that you cant store them in a barrel.

I don’t know if you ever read Tynan’s book on game development but he created Rimworld a popular survival mmorpg. His main idea is game mechanics over content and then create experiences vs punishing. And tbh I agree with what he says in the sense slimes do add an experience into the game and more harder opponents are fine but right now slimes spawn so commonly and are absolutely punishing to who ever comes across them like what happened to me. The issue I am raising is that slimes are there to create an experience but they are extremely broken right now and for many hermits who can’t even fight more than 5 or 6 at a time it is absolutely punishing. It is a good mechanic but needs to seriously be considered on its difficulty because it is seriously punishing which is not enjoyable for anyone unless you are a masochist which is rare...

Create an experience for a player, do not punish him for wanting to experience mining...

Merged the new thread with an older, identical thread.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Many hermits shouldn't be mining on the deepest cave levels.
