you cant fix a game where botting is rampant as botting will always be the number 1 solution to every botters problem. lets not deny that.

Yes botting will always be, but getting away from custom clients be a big step in the right direction.

Removing custom clients will literally kill the game. Every patch that has broken Amber and Purus has cut the active playerbase to a third.

i agree. the community is too reliant on ways to cheat. its a problem because the playerbase has been spoiled from the get go. jorbtar simply havnt cared if people botted or used clients that give them an edge over others.

thats because people were waiting for their clients to update because they KNEW the clients would be updated.
Newbie and noob do not mean the same thing.

Neither do figuratively and literally.

Keep telling yourself that. Most of the community wouldn't deal with the atrocity that is the default client unless it underwent a massive overhaul.

i would.

limitations are what make up a game in the first place. you cant go through this wall, you cant kill this becasuse your not strong enough. you cant see in the dark.

people love the alternate clients because they break all the rules we would otherwise be stuck with.

though i do agree that the default client needs improvements, such as more control over the camera.

Devs could accept digitally signed clients. Not that big deal nowadays ...

the only things i use in Amber that are not in original are some sorting/moving options, the different positioning of some windows and ql data visible, alarm for players and sometimes i turn darkness off because basic illumination tires my eyes...not much else than that, basically nothing about botting. I'm curious about what other players use, especially among the normal players XD

Just because you would does not mean others would. I for in fact would flat quit if Amber or a similar client in it's place ceased simply because I have already played with these limitations and find them a nuance and pointless to the actual progress of game play. It simply a preferred look to me.

You can fake signatures. Look at Runescape and other popular MMO's. Especially in my client I don't modify base source so this is accomplish able.

Game has flaws, it will always have flaws. Fixing certain flaws like handling botting is not an easy tasks and even if the client is closed source, what stops people from attempting to make bots by other means. There isn't. It a hard task to handle and I think the issue is not botting but the reasons behind why people do it. Bots are working machines that work periods of time but in reality I am sure any organized village that is dedicated can beat the bots especially if the village is big enough. Issue I see here more than anything is hermits trying to compete with veterans and efficient villages and using an excuse for bots as the reason they cannot reach the same standards. Noteably, my village was leading in quality and it was all done by hand. There is no excuse for people to say it impossible to keep up in q race without bots, my village did it. But key word is that it was a "village" and not a hermit. You need people to work together and that is the hardest aspect of this game sometimes and takes years and good leadership for hard working groups to form and even then they have their issues.

Damn people, why would you ruin such a lovely thread. :(

I am afraid that seasons would also become something monotonous, unless there are some things that could happen only at certain points in the world. The game has to have some milestones of achievements to feel alive, rewarding, having something to look for, while you are slowed down. As the researchers discovered, people feel excited about the future shiny thingies that they could get more than having them.
