I thought it was mammoths and whales.

More likely a moose or bear but to be honest I don't have any experience with whales.

You don’t need an alt, you get high surv on a main and kill stuff easily anyways. Do you think high q bones come from trolls or what?

Yea ur free to spend lp only on survival on alt while only combat skills on main.
Its a simple concept and the advantage should be obvious.

I've never really understood the concept of fighting animals with a sword or B12 anyways, to add to this. What about a sword brandishing man with much skill in bushwhacking makes him able to preserve an animals quality? Is the idea that you know where to cut to not ruin the meat? I think going after animals with a sword or colossal axe would ruin most usable parts of an animal anyways, and regardless if there was a stat that would help your character make precise attacks to an animal as to not strike the guts and sauce the meat in bile--it would be melee combat.

I have seen q400-q500 mammoths but I never found a bear that is much higher than q300

I have never seen or heard about a mammoth that high in quality before, I mean I’m sure it’s possible and they definitely should go that high but last world top Moose I found was in the 450 range with realm buff and spawned much more frequently than any mammoth would.

Survival is a indicator of how good you're at butchering and skinning, so it's reasonable to have survival capping animal ql becuase if you know how to skin, you know how to kill to not damage skin. Mb, survival should just hardcap skin and softcap bones and meat in such way that hard hitting moves would be more beneficial causing less ql loss.

Which would increase the early rise on mulch quality, speeding up early world.

If the purpose of the survival change was to slow down early world, there are ways to do that better that don't screw over noobs and stuff. You can make animal quality nodes start at base and scale up slowly over the weeks at the start of a world.
