Is it possible to make it so that at the character creation room players would have the choice to spawn in the wilderness or in the cheerful company of other heartlings?

That would be a great idea! Then all those who want to be on the central continent where all the fun and players are would be free to do so, and all those who want peace would be free to do that as well.

I'd love the central spawning to stay, while making the continent bigger and or making it cover more than one landmass. Option to leave to more peaceful place is great.
Regarding TW spawns, I don't like it, random spawns were much better. Never had an issue with occasional inactive hf here and there.

Yes, and I don't think anyone has ever wanted thingywall spawning.
Maybe when the world is dead it makes more sense, but when there is 100 players spawning at each thingywall? It's cancer.

We are gonna have 3k players at the very least. It's gonna be crowded no matter what, so why cram us in like sardines?
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

When spawning is set on Tingwall only, it is expected to see people. But when you appear in the wild, meeting anyone gets more intense and thrilling. So I prefer the wilderness scenario. But I think we still should be limited by one main continent.
And I agree, there always be some weirdo who would start building their base right where they appear in the world - near the very same tingwall - just to leave in a couple days

Strongly agree with this. Had this been just another usual wipe then I wouldn't mind it that much, but with the expected huge influx of new players thingwall spawn does not seem like a good idea, imagining the HF jams near them. One could argue it would be viable (yet still less optimal than random widlerness spawns) if the map was bigger compared to last world, since that would also mean the distribution would be thinned out across the thingwalls - I assume that the world size is the same as usual though? or is it going to be in any way adjusted to the expected higher player count? would be nice to hear a dev commentary on this

Good point about larger map size, although they don't have any data available about how many people are going to play on launch day besides wishlist information what might reach over 7,000 wishlists before tomorrow night.
My gut says we are going to experience a huge amount of players during the first week..

I doubt that anyone will choose the central continent then. Everyone will go to the wilderness. including the militants
