At least add a shitty all wooden shoring for cave walls or something like real miners did.

stop. mining. non walls. until you have the ore to make supports, ONLY mine the wall tile, then IF its an ore tile, mine it. otherwise move on to another wall. and a concussion is 100% gone in less than a day. ive had quite a few this world so far.

No, it's not. If you keep changing everything until it can't be botted anymore there literally wont be a game anymore. Everything can in some way be botted if a client maker is clever enough to do it and it's not worth destroying every single aspect of the game over. We've literally had combat bots, does that mean combat needs to be changed? We've had bots that drink for you when your stamina gets low, guess we better remove drinking? We've had forage bots, guess we better add capchas to picking up herbs or some shit. What would you even do to prevent botting for mining? Going down a road to prevent botting is only going to make shit more tedious and at best be a minor speedbump in the road to automating it somehow anyways. It's a fruitless journey, and it makes the game worse.

Not to mention the fact that the effects of these bots are largely overblown. Yes, there are bots, no the big factions aren't out progressing every noob because they have bots. If every player got access to every bot in the game right now, little would change as far as power balance goes, your life would just be filled with slightly less clicking.

A poll is needed, old support vs. New support. I believe most dedicated miners don't like the new system.

These changes make 0 sense.

What is the point in mining if you use up more metal in supports than you are bringing in?

yeah now that my mine support is down to 6% i just built another on top of it and said whatever

i can't avoid mining cave-in tiles if they're ore-bearing. i've minesweepered to the ends of my sanity

You're missing the point of mine supports, particularly early game. I minesweeper my way into a vein until at some point I want to mine out a section that includes cave-in tiles. That's when I build a support so I can mine those. Having the game punish you for mining cave-in tiles with a mine support nearby (which is supposed to allow you to mine those tiles) defeats the entire point.

Getting severe wounds on an alt is not a big deal. Mining dangers are a lot worse for people mining on their main - even when I do have the stats to fight them, I don't have my combat gear with me when mining and can only hope to not get surrounded before I can run. If I fail at that, I'll be dealing with severe wounds on my main for a while.

You can run away during the cave-in and will likely avoid getting hit that way (not guaranteed, but it certainly reduces the odds greatly). I always keep one hand on my mouse while mining unknown tiles for this reason.
