Hermits are always collateral damage when it comes to balance patches as they need to keep up with the current meta themselves rather than being told by a big brain villager the new basics.

Trading is good for the game. Last world many would argue that the global market was what kept people playing.
Its your problem if you don't want to take part in dealing with other people in an MMO.
