Developing of the idea about adding inertia into knarrs' movement could help with situations similar to OP's. Slowed down rotation, change of its course and gradual momentum gain might be cool

As for the risk of being the dead guy. I am pretty realistic and understand that potentially if anything I am the chased guy on the OP screen. But let's be really honest. Would "fixing" "broken" mechanic (in any reasonable way, not just "you can't kill people period") change the fate of the chased merchant alt on the OP screen?


Marksmanship is likely where naval combat would go. I’d personally like to see a smaller version of the knarr like a sloop or something of that sort which can also cross the ocean at a greater speed but with less capacity for storage and sailors. Amount of players and goods stored on a ship could also effect the overall speed. Dropping loot to increase your ship’s speed limit would be interesting.

I would certainly like to see cannon warfare at some point though I’m uncertain how this could be done in a way that is both fair for a majority of players but also doesn’t make it too easy to go and start firing at and damaging walls, docked knarrs, players, etc. As an example of how it might work I suppose you could have a similar aiming system as bows do already and a cannonball that impacts the knarr could damage on a % basis involving various factors like the type and quality of cannon, cannonball, distance fired and so on. Could be that once a knarr becomes fully destroyed the players and objects are all scattered to the water with a somewhat random decay factor thrown in for damaging the objects a bit at which point the players either; drown, had smaller boats in the knarr and swim to those, had coracle on person, swim to enemy vessel and fight so the fight would continue in more of a hand to hand combat sense, knarr ends up chasing remaining combatants or it ends because the sunk ship had no other vessels available and drowned.

This would definitely involve a balancing act to make sure the mechanics work out to be as fair as they could be but I do think it would still be better than the current scenario.

If you think gunpowder, cannon and such are good idea in general then I think your initial suggestion will turn into other nonsense and before you know it we have jetpacks and laserguns.

Suggestions regarding garbage like this (more technology that will change game fundamentally) should result in forum ban to be honest.

Archery is a mistake in general and should be for hunting only
Dropping loot in water so the people who take risk get even less loot is also bad idea in general

It's the direction of aids your idea goes in, not you trying to make suggestion in general.

Just like real world if you make people familiar with this technology the week after they will be on here suggesting machine guns and another specimen like yourself would reply with such a cry post acting as if it's about the quality of the suggestion while the actual matter is that the entire concept is just complete cancer for the game.

Talking about logical leaps when talking about introducing technologies. "if they allow this then why not this!!" Sure it will take 2-3 years for things to snowball properly but some cunt will still find it justified to go to the next step and it's best to prevent that entirely.

If they allow a knarr full of hearthings to instagib people with cleave just by having the tip of the boat touch the other boat's hitbox, why not let us just shoot cannons from the knarrs and make the instagibbing take 30s less :?:
