You can't even call it blackmail as there's no "dirty secrets" being revealed.
:ugeek:

At worst, it's cajoling by making a potential nuisance out of oneself. The game is designed to be brutal, and currently, it's the functioning mechanic. Whether you use bots or so many live players, it's the same thing people have been doing since the introduction of knarrs. Nothing new here, and unless the murder spree just gets crazy, I don't see dev intervention coming any time soon.

Hey, just for context: a single fighter with low stats could've killed either of those two before they got to shore pretty easily.

Knarr combat is lame because actual knarr combat where both sides are trying to win is bad. If you roam around looking to kill nabs in dugouts two people in separate areas searching solo would generate significantly more kills/hour than 10 people in one knarr.

Also, if you make it so only the driver in knarrs/sneks can attack, especially with the quality of sneks/knarrs affecting movement speed, it's going to create some weird/ugly navel fights. Basically your side can only have as many fighters as you have highQ sneks, and needing alts to block every slot of your snek so you don't get boarded? Anybody who gets boarded by multiple people, or boarded by one person + having a snek on them gets fricked? Seems bad idk

i think the point stands either way that you shouldn't be automatically dead just because your opponent is in a knarr and you're in something else

Well, by those standards:
You automatically lose if your opponent is in a sled and you're not.
You automatically lose if you're in Odeeper with a snek and they're not.
You automatically lose if you're in Oshallow in a snek and you're not.
You automatically lose if you're in a knarr and they're in a snek.
You automatically lose if your snek/knarr is lowerQ.
You automatically lose if you're low on water/energy.

Of all of these "you automatically lose if you dugout/coracle/rowboat far from shore" seems like the least bad

I like potjeh's idea of having only ranged combat and boarding being viable for ship battles. Would make things more interesting.
Tedium is a feature.

Formerly known as DaMaGe. Been playing on and off since World 3 in 2010, but my old account no longer functions.

right, but take note of the difference between "automatically lose" and "automatically dead"

Well, the thing is only nabs die this way. If a more experienced player were piloting any of the characters Shubla killed they would've been fine if they were paying attention. If the criteria by which we're deciding if something is bad is it unfairly killing nabs, making people auto-hearth would save a lot more than hearth while swimming.

Nah, if that coracle guy was piloted by anyone he'd still be dead because knarr would get to him before he could get to shallows. On the other hand if getting hit by entire knarr crew at once wasn't a thing he would've been able to make it to shallows.

Seems like that's an issue with water being unusually lethal compared to everything else in this game, not really the naval combat.
