Your suggestion is to basically make combat either random or rocks paper scissors style, both are bad.

Because the example you gave draw distance limiting combat, as if Hafen doesn't have that?

Yes you should have a chance to lose someone in night time. Ive never been a fan of if its on screen Im absolutely aware of it. We are playing a person who most certainly has limitations.

No not at all. Im merely suggesting we change the norm to be adaptive. If your changing me on a horse and I lure you into a swamp your horse is boged down more than me. If I have friends who come to my aid now your boged down and use bows to pelt you you are dead. Environment matters.

Well after such eloquent arguments I suppose there's nothing much left to be said here.

I for one, am overjoyed that likeminded people share the notion that PVP should be nerfed. Raiders just have it too easy nowadays... being able to get brutally murdered, without any means of defending yourself is completely against what this game stands for. If you're being chased, why not run into a swamp until you lose aggro? Are you a linen-clothed nab? Just run away! In the current PVP system, armor has absolutely no counter, why should the new player be punished for not raiding others for their material? LadyV's ideas are simply brilliant, and will breathe fresh life into the currently dead PVP system :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

EDIT: In addition, I welcome the new point of view from people who have never been in a fight this world; the forums are quite the circle-jerk, and their highly regarded input is exactly what we need.

Side (borderline offtopic -_-) note: there are a lot of verbal confrontation here and there between two groups of people: those who consider themselves more or less experienced in PvP and those whos PvP knowledge is merely theoretical, so they wish to stay away from it. Ideas and suggestions from both sides collide, mutual accusations ("you don't know PvP" - "you only want to kill noobs") are made, projectile feces are flung. However, I haven't been able to find a single elaborate guide on mid-to-high-end PvP on this forum: those who "know" and "do" pvp guard their secrets and even accuse each other of stealing "good decks" or "move combos". That's understandable but not very productive. Ofcourse, with the new system coming out (hopefully) in a few days, we don't need a guide for the one that's being scraped; hovewer, I urge players who actively PvP to make their (future) understanding of the system more public and slap together a viable guide; if anything, that could be a reference to many, many non-PvPing players when making their citique and suggestions.

lets remove pvp from the game xD
There was a wise soviet conscript that was surrounded by the enemy on the battle of Stalingrad. A mortar shot teared his pants apart causing a big hole in his pants right on his right butt cheek. He felt a glorious cold ass breeze of wind on his butt cheek, like it would be sent by stalin himself, he said - hide your butts

LadyV wrote:If we are going to do a fair and balanced system then we need those impairments. Why you may ask? Simply put we may be heroic or infamous but we are not super-Human. Darkness limits you. Armor protects but limits you. Vision limits your opportunities. Im not saying we can't add skill to learn to work with them but your base ability should be limited by many factors.

Thoughts?

I love this idea and everything involved in it. :)
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.
