Make it so any walls built boxing in a resource are bashable with 1 str.

Everybody assumes claimed resources are abuse. Not so. If you build an actual village around a resource(Ancient Root, for example), I believe that isn't abuse. There are ups and downs to specific locations. This makes it a tricky situation, as you can't even test for a small palisade around a resource, as the village may have palisaded the resource within their village to prevent, villager noobies for example, from simply picking and wasting this resource. Difficult to fix, that is probably why it hasn't been fixed already. Either you have no ability at all to protect nodes(even within your own base, making your base vulnerable), or you can't build anywhere that has any claimed resources, and are forced to all but abandon nearby resources.

Perhaps a solution I can think of this is for a natural decay and resprouting of localized resources. For example, the giant overturned tree could eventually rot into nothing, but in another place in the world, a brand new tree would grow, until it falls somehow. This means that if people want to palisade resources, they will eventually have to go find it again and palisade it again. This would give others a chance to protect the resources themselves. The main problem I can think of with shifting localized resources, is that if one plops up where you are building, you can't destroy it.

But what exactly is the problem here? I thought the general idea was for people to compete for control over those resources? As such, claiming, walling and farming with alts seem to be valid means of maintaining control over them.

And if I'm wrong about the competing part - then they are wrongly implemented from bottom to top. In such case maybe jorb should first be asked what was the goal for those in general, before coming up with ideas.

Just visited 4 salt basins, all within 4 minutes of them refreshing, only got the first salt because I kept checking the timer, and spent the last 5 minutes standing beside it. All had H.F's beside them.
Ways to sorta combat them being farmed by freshspawn alts bred for the purpose, from the top of my head:
Put it behind an expensive xp wall, 500, 1000, something, if not an accompanying lore skill that's chalked up as "learning how to use the land" or w/e.

randomized timers, that are also ambiguous: Once harvested, it could take 3 days to refill, could take 3.5, could take 5. Needs to be a diceroll every time to stop people setting exact timers, coupled with inspecting them not giving you any useful measurement of time until the last hour or two. Instead we get different stages of messages which also go off a diceroll, such as "This was harvested recently" means it's still near the top of it's refill time. "This will be ready in a while" for when it's got only a day or two left.
The important part being that those messages can overlap/aren't held by static times. So that people can't figure out exactly the amount of time they correlate to, but are still able to guesstimate.

Timer accuracy affected by certain stats, such as Perc. The less you have, the lower the accuracy of your inspection, to the point of not being able to tell at all. Not exactly going to stop alts, but makes it a step harder for them, and more worthwhile just to go out on your main and collect the damn things.
