They are noted Here. Forcing or having Jorb and Loftar try to be on a bot look out will just take time out of their day and time out of development.

Been thinking about stickying this as a means for pointing this out clearly. Still haven't 100% decided on it, though. Comments appreciated (PM or via the Moderation Discussion thread, please).

Players need to step up and go full nuclear on anyone they see botting... see, it's open-world sandbox gaming at its finest. Don't need a reason to kill random players, but those that "need" to be removed... nah, we'll leave them be cause they're likely a faction or something. (I don't fail to note the rather lengthy siege mechanics, but even before that change, all I recall seeing was that same complaint and same lack of willingness to go to this step.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I think it's been established it's a pretty fuzzy area between "botting" and "QoL scripts." There are some features I'd cry about losing in the custom clients not available in default (90% of them).
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

Runescape 3 uses a system to simply detect bot behavior. Reporting bots makes a heat map for the system to look at but basically their system can just tell if you've done the same action for hours without a single mis-click, clicking with in the same range of like 10 pixles...

Basically if you use a free or open source bot on RS3 you'll be banned with in a few hours to a few days. A more advanced bot has a chance to get away with it for longer.

Nuking some from orbit randomly, or infecting them with a disease (memories of pain style, just with a hidden incubation period - and giving the affected characters Alzheimer's so you can forget about inheriting from then) would be way more fun.... and more effective as a deterrent as likely fewer would take the chance of destroying the whole village (including the main one the bots produce for, in the disease case).
