Still, no PVP would make me less depressed than dying to a no rage boi I attacked because he's stealing my shit, or something

Players that aren't buying Rage are obviously not willing to take the risk of losing their character anyways, whether their reasons for it are related to PvE or PvP. At least in the system I've suggested it's more likely those players are going to take the risk of activating Rage knowing it's only temporary which would provide an opportunity to kill them that you would not otherwise have had if things remain how they are. And if they really don't want to lose their character during the time they are vulnerable or scented after whatever they were doing then effectively you've taken that character out of commission probably longer than any injuries would.

Perhaps it wouldn't encourage more PvP on its own but I think that can also be attributed to something like the earlier conversation in this thread regarding Meteorite currently being one of the only activities interesting to participate in.

ftfy, but thanks for agreeing with me. The only people that would benefit from this idea would be those looking to exploit it. I.e people that have already made alts and actively do PvP.

Okay well you've provided nothing in terms of a viable alternative and just saying everyone should die won't make it so. If you enjoy pvp I would think you'd attempt to make it more accessible to all players but if you like how things are then I hope you enjoy that too.

The only way pvp would be accessible to all players would be to remove UA/MC and agility and to have the only variance be in their STR/Damage, total HP and their chosen "Deck"/move set

The only way I'd ever agree to this would be if non-rage character COULDN'T kill rage characters, but at that point you're pretty much just making death a toggle.

Honestly, I think they are. It's just when you offer somebody the chance to game the system and have less fun doing so they probably will.

If the non-rage char can't kill the rage char he KOed, his alt will. If his alt can't aggro the rage char, the rageboi will get his friends to KO him when he's low hp

Maybe. There can be clever types of gaming too though that could actually add to the dynamic rather than take away from it. Let's say you're scouting around looking like a newbie and you come across a guy that doesn't take you as a threat so does not immediately hearth away. Perhaps they are peaceful but perhaps you also goad them in to attacking you first by messing with them or something, I doubt anything like this happens to players without Rage because choosing to buy it is a permanent choice. But if it weren't, maybe it would be possible to fool more players in to making the first move in such situations.

I mean, the only reason I bought Rage was exactly the kind of situation where non-rage guy gets aggrod and I'm forced to buy it in order to assist. Too bad I still suck tho.

The viable alternative is already in place, though, as I've already stated. I don't need to provide a "viable alternative" for that reason. I think you should take a step back, breath, and take a break, before you pull an Ozzy.

Edit:

It's like you people have forgotten rage was just recently changed to allow players without it to have the chance of surviving instead of just being dead. I mean it's really not in a bad enough place to warrant these types of changes.. Get off this mentality of "I wAnT cHaNgE cUz Me BaD sO i RiGhT aNd YoU mUsT aGrEe AnD oFfEr SoLuTiOn ToO."

But the mechanics that remove total permadeath are not so new and my friend still died without Rage before the B12 changes anyways.

Yes please massively this.

I came back from a long hiatus and bought Rage for the skills not knowing the murder skill was no longer a thing. I didn't know about the consequences, please, take it back! Take the skills too, keep the LP! Please, I just don't want to die!
