Most of my friends already burned out this world and I tried to manage cattle. I did sort them out once and I dont want to do this anymore. The reason being that I cannot detect which animals I need to keep without looking at their stats manually.
I'd like to select animal stats which are important to me and have animals automatically change their overlay color or cattle roster value/position depending on selected values so i can instantly see the which ones i need to kill.
Maybe even the ability to mark special zones akin to claim permission changing poles, where different sorting rules apply, for example one zone is for truffel pigs, other for meat.

Wow this thread sure did take off, and also derailed.

To chime in, I never said all RNG is bad and should be removed, i simply said the current state of it is bad because there is far too much of it and nothing at all is clear.

So ITT, seems herding was changed so that it picks one stat from either parent and gives it an rng of some unknown amount to do the whole "selective breeding thing", I didn't actually know this, I assumed it was still the average of parents +/- some rng, so in that case where does breeding Q even come into the equation anymore?

If it is selective then that implies you would basically need a setup per stat if you wanted to raise all effectively, which would imply 35 different "set ups" to cover all animal types and all stats (overkill really since barely any of the stats actually matter) if i want to raise all stats in any meaningful way? Which is an insane ask tbh.

Breeding is overly complicated and far too tedius, and, like Snail said, one of the major things that prevents late joiners from catching up because its just insane how long anything takes to raise with the massive tedium of having 7 stats and 2 quality stats per animal type.

  • Implemented Potjeh's breeding idea. Instead of baby animals using an average of their parents' qualities when determining their own stats, they now select the value from one or the other parent, before adding a bit of a random roll as usual. The objective being to create more selective breeding.

Just doing my best to get back at tryhards for fucking with sprucecaps all the time ¦]

Wait, you were responsible for the mechanics I enjoy and larped the heck out of last time I played with animals? I gotta pay more attention to the dev notes... Thank you!
